  1. Thanks Dutch! (You know, I think I put that in a previous Journal, but there are so many now that I can't remember where people are any more.)
  2. Ok...what the heck is this? Are you making my cute little rabbits thread naughty? This isn't the Below Decks forum.
  3. Does that mean I have to change the graphic again?
  4. I have a question for the regular Surgeon's Journal readers. Since the Journals are so long, do you prefer them to be posted: -one chapter at a time as I finish them or -in their entirety. I am not posting this as a poll because I'd appreciate your comments/suggestions. Thanks!
  5. That was from the second Ghostbusters movie. "I'm desperate for this money and we're friends, right?" "Yeah, we're friends. But, you know, it's the type of friendship where if you're in trouble, I probably won't be there for you. Just like I wouldn't expect you to be there for me. It's a more honest friendship. It's not this like phony thing. It's a genuine friendship. I can't trust you. You can't trust me."
  6. Sure, I want feedback. (Just not static. ) I could swear I heard someone say they were twice a day. Oh, well. Fixed all that. Thanks!
  7. Bam! The whole Journal is now done! Thanks for your patience! Enjoy the end, starting with Chapter 6.
  8. I thought you were going to put it on the Pyracy page?
  9. It's actually really easy to forget Harvey given that you almost never notice him.
  10. "What does that mean?" "What does that mean?" "Twenty-four hours!" (That description probably wouldn't have helped you auction it it off, though. )
  11. Now if I were writing it, that comment alone would certify that you would be Mr. Pink Pirate. "Quit bitching. It's just a color."
  12. Here's some more I found from Poppa as I was looking for pics for the epilogue of the Surgeon's Journal: Our heroes: "What's that girl? Timmy fell down the well and broke his earlobe?" What sort of weird world does this come from?
  13. Perhaps you should draw what he was doing instead of going to PiP.
  14. My God man! Do you know how long I've been looking for such things? And they come in varying sizes at fairly reasonable prices! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Hope is renewed for my surgeon's chest! Somehow I knew you held the key.
  15. "Boys! Boys! You're scaring the straights, okay?"
  16. What I want is small (say holding a cup or less), matching, square-bottomed bottles with mouths for corks. I have some for my medicine chest, but they're all machine-made.
  17. $20 - $30 seems pretty standard, really. Hey QMJ, do you know of any decent sources for square-bottomed, corked bottles (other than Jamestown)?
  18. What you really need is a copy of Woodall's book the surgion's mate. There is actually more information in there which answers your question than I care to type in and re-print. We're talking 50+ pages of material including long lists of tools, medicines, their uses and their locations in the chest (sort of) and so forth. It will require some reading and deciphering effort, but it you want a period surgeon's chest, that's the best way I know of to get the info you're asking for. I urge you to go to the source. I explain how you can get a pdf copy with a little effort in this post. Get the 1639 version of the book as it also has material on barbering and other miscellaneous equipment in the added chapters. Good luck!
  19. Watch out for the overseas postage. It is being offered from the UK. True. This is why I always figure the price of the postage into the amount I want to bid. If they don't list it, I ask the seller. I've actually had pretty good luck with UK stuff, although $17 pounds (about $26) is a tad steep. But again, you just figure that into the total amount you want to pay and bid accordingly.
  20. I've been considering having one of those made by a blacksmith for me since they're so simple. The problem is that I have several different kinds of fleams already which puts it pretty far down the "want" list. But it does look cool.
  21. What are you talking about? Those are period-correct pink flamingo breeches as made by Lady Brower. They even came with an embroidered pink-flamingo pocket.
