When I was doing my Delorean-themed kitchen, I wanted a leathery-looking counter-top, although obviously not one actually made of leather. I found a reasonable and simple solution - Formica! The one I used is called 3690 Basalt Slate. It is textured on the top and that with the gray streaks give a sort of leathery look. They may have other colors and styles as well (My preference would be for deep brown rather than black leather for a pirate-themed room - in fact, it was in my pirate-themed living room - but that may just be me.) You can get a sample of the Formica top for cheap on the page to which I just linked you. If you were to wrap a real leather from the bottom of the bar, over the sides and tuck it into the Formica, I'll bet you'd be quite pleased with the resulting look. I was - it's very unique.

Are you sure you're not both?

The title of this thread isn't Random Mules, or Random Donkeys or even Random Asses (which would actually be a very curious thread. I am not suggesting anyone start one, however.) Actually, you have whiskers! ;) I kill me sometimes. (Others wish I would at othertimes.)

I'm waiting for the check on that one...

Happy birthday, old man! Many returns of the day...whatever the heck that means.

No, see...the paper folding, that's YOUR thing. MY thing is to post various bizarre/cute/funny/stupid/insert adjective here/ridiculous rabbit pictures. If I keep posting Duchess' folded rabbit pictures, then everyone will say, "What? Mission's posting ANOTHER folded rabbit picture? Ho hum." However if YOU post a picture of a folded rabbit picture, then everyone says, "Ah. Another fine, charming and delightful folded masterpiece from our own Duchess. How swell!" Meanwhile QJ is off posting photos that frighten small children and disgust people's grandparents. It's an implied promise thing. YOU post folded rabbits like YOU promised, I post random rabbit pictures like I promised and QJ posts bizarre and potentially legally actionable pictures like HE promised. So we're all men of word, really - except for you, who are, in fact, a woman.

Wait...rabbits can scream? _________________________________________________________________ (Duchess put me on to this one. She's too embarrassed to post in this thread. Either that or she doesn't read it. Of the two explanations, I think the first is more likely. )

I'm afraid I don't actually know enough about period weapons to comment intelligently on the design. It's a grenado launcher, right?

Nice work! That 3D rendering stuff in the old program is a bit tetchy.

I decided to watch POTC:CotBP last night (I haven't seen it in several years) and I must say...I liked it better when I saw it in the theatre and didn't have the stuff in the sequels following it. "Now bring me that horizon..." had much more impact before I saw what the horizon consisted of. (Particularly all that Davy Jones/Lord Cutlet Pecker/Calypso nonsense...)

Fantastic! Hopefully you can both be there. I am (tentatively) planning to stay at Somerset House Hotel (based on a recommendation by Red-Handed Jill), arriving Wednesday or Thursday and leaving for the island on Friday. I assume you are talking about touring on Friday, Ed? And, while I'm asking questions...have you been to the Wellcome Collection? What do you think of its pirate-era stuff? I have seen many photos of surgical equipment in books from that place.

What program are you using to render that in? Acad? It's a very nice rendering!

Well, I've learned something that is sort of interesting for those of you searching for a flight to London - at Travelocity (which is where I always search from*), you can enter as your airport LON - then select London from the popdown list - and it will search all the airports in London for you. I'm also noticing that the flights after May of this year are dramatically more expensive than those before. Just playing around, I entered a flight in March going on the same days of the week as I want and the price comes up as $656 (as opposed to $1030, which is what I find for July.) My thought is that it may be better to search in May for a flight in July to get decent pricing. (Pure guesswork on my part, naturally.) It does make the trip look that much more affordable, though. *I only use Travelocity to search, I actually book direct through the airline's site if it's the same price. This is because the airlines charge you an extra fee if you cancel a flight booked through an external site.

I do believe it was yesterday when I first started receiving notifications of pms sent to my email again. As I say, it had been broken for about a month or so.

Mine was doing that for about a month and now, all of a sudden, I am receiving notifications again. I think it was constipated.
