  1. I'm very interested, I just need to ask some questions

How long do you have before you need to mail out another pirates sketch book? A few days, a few weeks, or is there a mailing schedule that everyone follows?

About how much does the average book cost to ship and what method of shipping is recommended?

How many pages should you fill in other pirates sketchbooks?

  2. Quite frankly, I wouldn't bother with them if doing something fantasy either. They are garbage.

Ok, my bad. Guess I'll stay out of this conversation. I didn't realize I had been making crap all this time.

  3. I went Saturday and didn't see anyone I knew

I tried to make the Meet & Greet but my group was late. I took a fall in the garage before we left and then we forgot to account for the traffic back up outside of the faire. Speaking of that, did anyone else see the kids with the "Honk if You're Horny" sign outside of their house?

  4. Thats good to know Matt, makes me feel better about the whole thing. It must have been Scott, he said he owned all the rides at the PA Faire, and his contact address is in Florida. Thank you for the resurrance!

I'm very interested in the job and hope he contacts me soon. When and where in Florida is the Pirate Fest? He just mentioned that it was in Florida in the winter.

  5. Since this goes along with the subject of the PA Renn Faire...

To make a not so long story short,

I went to the PA Faire on Labor Day in my mermaid getup and was offered a job. The gentleman who owns the pirate shop at the farside of the faire asked me if I would be interested in working for him during next year's PA Faire Pirate Weekend and at a Pirate Fest in Florida in winter. Sounds like the job would be me dressed in my mermaid costume for photo ops. We exchanged contact info and he said he'd be in touch.

Interesting huh? I'm all for doing the PA Faire next year but I'm a little nervous about the Florida one since I don't know these people....but I'm sure they're very nice, and I've never even been to Florida.

    What do you guys think?

  6. And if you wanted to leave it you would be in vogue. All of the dancers in my tribe have funky hair. I am trying to decide if I want to turn mine pink....lol.

Give it a day or two and you can put it back the way you want it.

If it was all blood red I think I might be inclined to leave it alone.

I'd look like Ariel on Monday in my mermaid costume ;)

Hang in there Siren! I hope you get into something good (and easy on you) for your birthday!

  7. I feel weird.

I screwed up dying my hair last night (11pm, so I couldn't fix it!). It's now blood red on top and the sides, brown in the back. If I was 18 and still and art student I would love it. Now I just want to fix it. The lady on the customer service line said I have to wait 24 hours to redye it...sigh

  8. This may be a poorly thought out idea... but I thought I'd throw it out there.

How about a cafe press store with the commisions all going to Siren? If she set up the store (it's really easy) all the proceeds would get mailed directly to her. We could just e-mail her designs to post in her store.

There are so many artists in the pub, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be willing to design a shirt/merchandise layout - not to mention buy some of my fellow pirate's work for such a fantastic cause!

Siren would you be interested in doing this? The store would be free for you to set up. I'm not sure how actually profitable it is though. I know some people do well.

  9. Why do the advertise so many commercial on children's dvd's and you have to watch them or it won't play the movie?

It's an advertising ploy. They know if the kids see something they want they will nag Mom and Dad until they get it. :D

  10. has a board for fantasy/faire topics only ever been discussed? it seems like a great idea.i have talked to many people here thru IMs that are like me and will no longer post any of our garb because it just gets picked apart for accuracy, even tho we are not going for accuracy.there are several of us here who love the fun fantasy aspect of it all but have no place to discuss/show it. none of the boards are really that accepting of it.tolerant at best.

Have you posted in the "You and Your Garb" section Bonnie? I go in there when I'm showing off a new outfit. Everyone is usually very open to all sorts of dress, including my favorite, the mermaid costume.

My costumes aren't authentic, they're just for fun. No one has ever blasted my leather bodice or my Kohls boots. However, if I was to go to a reinactment I would be sure to either look into an authentic kit or go in my street clothes as a spectator. You don't go to a Star Trek convention dressed as Chewbacca the Wookie.

Why don't you start a new thread Bonnie? I'd check it out. B)

All of that aside, I really appreciate this thread. You never know when I might go "real" on everyone.

It's great to get some information on stays too. Is it much different than making a boned & lined bodice? Pardon my ignorance, I'm learning...

  11. If you are getting a properly fitted bodice you should not need to wear a bra beneath it.

It sort of defeats the purpose...

Well, my bodice was mail order with no boneing. It just wasn't doing it.
