  1. A very Happy Holidays to the fine crew of the Mercury. May the coming year be plentiful in drink, food, company and good fortune.
  2. Thank you, everyone. I appreciate all of the well wishes. It was a marvelous birthday. Tracy surprised me with a carefree night out on the town, dinner, the theater and some amazing presents. And that was only Friday night. I spent the next day at a second party that went late into the night. One of the best birthdays that I can remember.
  3. Aye, a very happy birthday to all my fellow December born pirates.
  4. The Verse In Numbers 2.0 is complete and available for download at: http://pics.fireflyprops.net/TVIN-2.0.pdf
  5. DAY 25: Just missed the posting time by 1 minute! This is an unknown, tiny book plate map of Virginia in 1702. I did two of them to a page, since it's so small. 1702-VirginiaMap.pdf
  6. Here are three together, and all of them are published statistics concerning death (but for the marriages listed on one). They are often referred to as 'Bills of Mortality'. The one from 1665 is specifically sobering, as it touches on the many deaths from the plague. DAY 22: 1665 - A Table of Funerals (8.5" x 14" with a 1/4 inch off each side) DAY 23: 1743 - A General Bill of all the Christenings and Burials (8.5" x 11" with a half inch off the top and bottom) DAY 24: 1758 - Diseases and Casualties (two copies on an 8.5" x 11" with crop marks) 1665-ATableoftheFunerals.pdf 1743-AGeneralBill.pdf 1758-DiseasesAndCasualties.pdf
  7. DAY 21: Another Herman Moll map, but a little further down the coast. 1736. Carolina. 1736-Carolina.jpg.pdf
  8. DAY 20: Another map to catch me up. This one is by the Geographer/Cartographer Moll. Moll was a contemporary of the period, but I don't know that date of this one. It's set up on an 11" x 17" and a 5/8ths of an inch should be taken off of the sides. Moll-NewEngland.pdf
  9. DAY 19: Another period political piece out of the Massachusetts Colony. Print on 8.5" x 11" and take three quarters of the right and left side and a quarter inch off the top and bottom. 1680-AtTheConvention.pdf
  10. DAY 18: I'm catching up from three crazy days. This first piece is a great full color map of Martinique in 1681 at 15.5" x 19". 1681-Martinique.pdf
  11. Very sharp, and a fine day for riding. The weather here was so mild that it felt like mid July all day and into the night. Tracy and I just came back from 5 different back to back events with the children. We had a wonderful evening and it's the first time I've worn my Quartermaster kit to anything other than a period event.
  12. You had multiple URL and img tags. All you need is the tag.
  13. Newest Garb.....please excuse phone camra pictures....
  14. DAY 17: The Louvre! I nice little diagram from 1714 placed on a letter sized sheet. Print at size and take a half inch off all sides. 1714-Louvre.pdf
  15. DAY 16: Today's addition is a map of Dui, India. It's late for the period, but it's a very clean drawing for the time. It's placed on an 8.5" x 11" and a quarter inch should be trimmed off the top and bottom of the map, and a half inch off of both sides to make it the size of the original. 1746-Dui_India.pdf
  16. DAY 15: Today's contribution is another map. This is a great piece from 1704 that shows all of the streets of Valencia, Spain by forcing the perspective of the buildings. I've set it up at size (27.5" x 18.5") but it will 'fit to page' comfortably when printed on an 11" x 17" sheet. 1704-ValenciaSpain.pdf
  17. DAY FOURTEEN: 1692 - Upon Sight of Londons Stately New Buildings I found this one quite by accident this morning while searching for something else. The image was not set to size, so I placed it on 8.5" x 11" and trimmed as you see fit. 1672-UponSightofLondons.pdf
  18. Thank you for posting the link. I love this site and I had forgotten all about it.
  19. DAY THIRTEEN: "Some Meditations Concerning our Honourable Gentlemen and Fellow=Souldiers, In Pursuit of those Barbarous Natives in the Narraganist-Country; and Their Service there" Yep, it's a poem. It was first written in 1675, but republished in this 1721 facsimile. Print this one to 8.5" x 14" and take three quarters of an inch off of the bottom. 1721-GentlemenandSouldiers.pdf
  20. DAY TWELVE: A you can see so far by the variety of documents, I mean to supply any and all things that I have found from the period, so that everyone that visits here might find something interesting or might take away some oddity. This one is no exception. It is a proclamation for a fast among the Turks, which was reprinted in the colonies. It's on an 8.5" x 14" and once printed, a quarter inch should be taken off the sides and three quarters of an inch from the top and bottom. 1697-TheTurkishFast.pdf
  21. DAY ELEVEN: This is a great color piece of St. Augustine. I don't know the year, but based on the style of ships, I would guess it predates the Golden Age. I've included it at size, so it's a printing challenge at 20" by about 15", but it's too interesting not to share. MapofStAugustine.pdf
  22. I'm too tired to explain and it's only getting later...or rather earlier. DAY TEN: This one needs to be printed on 8.5" x 11" and three quarters of an inch should be trimmed off of the right and left sides. 1702-JosephDudley.pdf
  23. Wonderful! I love seeing more examples of these from the period. That goes on the Christmas list.
  24. You are all welcome. I'm glad to get these into the hands of people who will use them, share them and preserve them. DAY NINE: I'm sorry that today's map is late. I was at a family event out of town and should have been back hours ago, but for having too much fun and an accident on the freeway that blocked traffic coming home. This one is a beautiful map of Galway, Ireland in 1651. This one was not scanned in at size, so I picked a standard 11" x 17". It can be trimmed or left alone. 1651-MapofOldGalway.pdf
