  1. B.D. ...try the Google searches of: "Beaufort, NC, Campgrounds" (gives 3) and... "Atlantic Beach, NC, Campgrounds" (gives 3 others) B.P.W: Thanks for the compliment on the Meka/Wolf. More to come. Working on the Compass Rose & A. J. Meerwald presently. Best regards to ye all
  2. Meka II and Wolf...First two ships in the Parade of Sail link to larger photo http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/2go...e/100_2787a.jpg
  3. Capt'n Mac, Excellent work! Have you attempted the coachwhip weave around a stick ? Marvellous work, mate!!
  4. Try the Charleston Maritime Festival. James L. Nelson was there last year. http://www.charlestonmaritimefestival.com/
  5. I had stopped by the QAR repository/exhibit this July & had just missed the Deep Sea production crew by 30 minutes. David Moore of the museum was envious, and happy, of the of the good visibility that they had. The new Teach's Hole museum/shop is now open, & they still want me to built a QAR for them. Tis in the works, but will be in dry dock for a while since I will be doing 3 ships-n-bottles demos per day at the Pepsi America Sail in Beaufort. Their life-sized Blackbeard figure is impressive. The head was made by a forensic artist in NYC with each hair individually placed. The coat was made in Charleston. They originally had a cutlass made, but it was too heavy for the arm. In fact, it fell out and hit one of the owners in the head. They are now using a lighter actor's cutlass.
  6. Fell asleep during the last 1/2( a long day), though I was taping it. It was interesting that the location map showed Beaufort inside the Pamlico Sound...near Bath/Little Washington. Heavens to Betsy...no wonder the QAR ran aground!
  7. Ms. Christine, Have you tried "Foot Traffic" ? http://www.foottraffic.com/subcat28-0.html Granted, some look like they'd be a member of the Lollipop Guild. Best Regards to ye.
  8. Uh-oh...ya mean same thought at same time. Gosh, I do not need another female connection like that. But, then again...
  9. Puritans do exist today...They are called Fundamentalist Baptist now
  10. Tonight on History Channel... Deep Sea Detectives Blackbeard's QAR 10pm... Followed by Ghost Ship see link for upcoming Deep Sea Detective Shows. http://www.lonewolfdg.com/ Best regards to ye all
  11. Just finished watching the taped show. Twas good...a bit inaccurate in parts...No mention of Hornigold--who gave Teach the QAR. Good models of the QAR & Bermuda sloops. Swell battle scenes. Will be watching it a few more times. True, Joshua Red, the Ocracoke shoreline looked a bit rocky, and Bath did (& still does) not have a building so big.
  12. Congrat's to ye, mate. Shall be taping it. Hope the fortune follows yer fame!
  13. -Das-- I borrowed an antique s.i.b. which shows the early-mid 1900 European style. It is on the program.
  14. To all Woodwright Shop Fans, I just completed this weekend the shooting of "How Ships go into Bottles" with Roy Underhill. He invited me to do the show when we met last May at the NC Wooden Boat Show in Beaufort, NC. Gosh was there a lot of preparation for that...getting enough material in various stages to demonstrate a process that normally takes about 4 hours into the program time of 24.8 minutes. Made lots of pirate ships...Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge & sloop Adventure, and Charles Vane's brig Ranger. Roy immediately went for the pirate ships which allowed him to say "AARRRR" a lot in his best pirate voice! Also, there are numerous "emptying the bottle" comments. For demonstrating how to make a ship in bottle, we used a sharpie since it has a simple rig. Found out that I can put a sharpie in a bottle in 1.8 minutes...that's into the bottle & errect the masts & sails. The show will be aired this Fall. Check your local listing . The Woodwright Shop is also shown in Canada & England. Those attending the PepsiSail 2006 in Beaufort this July can catch a pre-air showing at the NC Maritime Museum. After the filming, I introduced Roy & the production staff to Planter's Pyrate Rum. They had never had it, and now they are hooked. Roy is also an extra in the film The New World. The directors wanted him limping out the fort gate, so he placed a pebble in one shoe to aid him. After many takes, he said that he was lame & discarded the pebble. Best regards to all, Jim-sib

  18. That be my choice !...Oh yes, it has gone metric... "plead the liter"
  19. Found the dialect of O'Brian makes for a challenging read. Made it part way thru the first book. Have read all the Ramage, Hornblower, & Bolitho books. Jim Nelson's books are good, and the Privateer Mysteries are real "page turners".
  20. In modeling, I've considered painting on the "racing stripe" at the bow that occurs from meals derrived from the slush fund. Kinda like seeing a pickup truck driver's side door owned by a tobacco chewer. Best regards
  21. Thankee, mate. Made two of those last year...one for Bath, NC & the other for Teach's Hole new shoppe on Ocracoke. Teach's Hole want a Queen Anne's Revenge. It is in the works, though about a year away due to all me bottle work.
  22. Greetings, Mark yer calendars! Tall Ships will be coming into Beaufort, NC this June 30th-July 5th. I have heard from one re-enactor that a Pirate Camp is planned. The link is below...and website is still in the works. http://www.pepsiamericassail.com//index.html Best regards to all.
  23. My two favorites: Blackbeard's Fleet: http://www.carolinasib.com/images/Frame.ph...leet&price=Call The Hattie Creef off Currituck (the Carolina Sharpie that carried Wilbur & Orville over to Kill Devil Hills) http://www.carolinasib.com/images/Frame.ph...tuck&price=Call Me Site: http://www.carolinasib.com/index.php Best regards
  24. I've had pets since I was a youngter. Been petless for about 4 years now...kinda like the freedom of not wondering how they'd be doing while we away...yet I miss the purrs & wanging tails...and my frisbee dog...the love, calmness, and even the frustration(skunk? where's the skunk?) that they bring. Best regards.
  25. It's outside of the law...hence, outlaw. When I first started selling ships in bottles at the gallery on Ocracoke, I had made a set of the 1790' Revenue Cutters & some Blackbeard vessels. The Revenue Cutters weren't sellin', and the gallery manager stated, "Everyone seems to have an affinity for a pirate...kinda like Robin Hood" The romanace of being free...no taxes, no bills,
