  1. probably about shoulder length would work. Me sister did fake dreads by putting elmer's glue into sections of her hair and then rolling it around. Looked pretty good. Washed out in the shower too, if ye're not looking for permanence. As fer me, I've got very curly and frizzy hair, wot dreads in the shower, or ifn I wears it down. Fun ta brush it is.
  2. Oh yes, The Pirate's Son is good too. Nice depiction of Madagascar
  3. I think ye should applaud Hello Kitty fer finally makin' the leap ter the sweet trade. It certainly took long enough. As fer me, I just got the blanket. Perfect fer me dorm room...
  4. Kidnapped is absolutely amazing!!!! Definitely read it. Has to do more with Scotland than pirates. In fact, I've heard Stevenson himself liked Kidnapped better than Treasure Island. There's also The Master of Ballantrae, by the same author, which is very good, and involves pirates. I think I want to read that one again...
  5. tell me abou' it. Ye can spend yer life workin' an' ye will always want more. I'm fer the get rich quick off prizes plan meself a pirate's life fer me!
  6. Methinks tis about $16. Tis well worth the price, an' completely inspirational
  7. I were lookin' at the liddle insert wot came in the POTC soundtrack, an' I noticed something. All the musicians in the orchestra had pirate names followin' their reg'lar names. I thinks me fav'rites were Ahoy Matey O' Grady, Landlubber Jackson, Keelhaul Brooks, an' Tortuga Wench Gallagher. Just thought ye'd get a kick outta that
  8. lessee... kinda hard now ta say. bein' as I've read so many. I gots ta say that Under the Black Flag an' A general history are excellent. The Pirate Hunter an' A Pirate o' Exquisite mind are on me list. Fer fiction I likes Pirates! by Celia Rees, an pyrates by George Macdonald Fraser is an absolute riot. I just picked up this book abou' pirates o' the New England Coast, an' me home state is mentioned right in the beginnin' fer bein' a pirate haven, 'specially the town cross the bay fra me, so that makes it excitin'. Good local histry wot has a wee bit o' irony in it, that book.
  9. So a pirate walks into a bar, an' sits down. The first thing the bartender notices is that this pirate has a ship's wheel attached to the crotch of his pants. The pirate orders a drink, and when the bartender brings it to him, he says, "I couldn't help but notice your, em, steering wheel." The pirate downs his drink in one sip an' says in an anguished voice. "Aaarrrrrrrgghh mate. Tis drivin me nuts!" Sorry about that un. Twas hilariously funny at three o'clock in the morning on watch off the coast o' the carolinas. But then, so was this un: There was this bakery, and it was just about to close. THere were two muffins left sitting in the glass case. One muffin says to the other, "Hello, how are you?" The other muffin says. "Oh my God it's a talking muffin!"
  10. There was that song from Muppet Treasure Island, Professional Pirate I think twas called. An also methinks most o' the traditional ones be suitable fer kids about 7 or so.
  11. Fer me berfday, one o' me mates gave me the game pirateer. Looks fun. 'have any o' ye played it, and ifn ye did, wodja think?
  12. there's a real ship, I think out of Connecticut, called the Black Pearl. I'm pretty sure she's a brigantine. Would you like both?
  13. I'm from Rhode Island, and I'm going to college in Addison county, vermont. I would like to know if there are any pirate crews or reenacting groups in either place. I haven't seemed to have much luck finding any.
  14. 'ows about a rum cake ter go wi' yer rum? Aye, an' wi' fire sparklers in it. Happy berfday!
  15. thanks ta all o' ye. I weren't expectin' that. How'd ye know? Aye, twas a grand day. Got me drivin' license, watched the Newport tall ships parade o' sail, took a nap...lovely. And I thanks ye all again fer wishin' be well. Haharr. tis legal I be now!!!!
  16. might not be able ta get away fer sunday, but I may try fer friday. see ya then possibly
  17. nothin' came up on amazon. Be this song in the credits o' the dvd? mayhaps I should give it a listen
  18. they're not traditional exactly. John Masefield were the British poet laureate in the 60's I believe. But they're written like they could be traditional. Inna style o' ballads an' such. But eloquent love songs ta the sea an' ships an' that vanishin' way o' life. I'm writin' a tune fer sea fever meself.
  19. coolness! tall ships newport is over today, an' in addition ta havin' too much work, the traffic was bloody atrocious, so I couldn't go. But New London don't be too far off fra me. Methinks I can make an appearance, ifn I kin convince la madre ta loan me the car...
  20. I knows o' a ship sailin' fer the Bahamas in a few weeks. Friends wi' the cap'n. maybe I can convince 'er ta drop us off.
  21. ?????????? I dont gets ya. Maybe I would if'n ye put in the whole word. No need ta be polite wi' yer language, yer in the company o' pirates.
  22. mayn't be historically accurate in the lingo sense o' the word, but 'ow long 'ave human bein's been expressin' their discontent? Since ferever, I'll wager. Arrrrrgggghhh sounds a bit like growlin' an therefore, tis historically accurate as the way humans retained primeval expressions o' discontent. (I knows that sounds a wee bit convoluted, but there ye have me reasonin' ) an' as fer historical accuracy in general, tis this pirate's humble opinion tha' wot attracts the lot ' folk ta history be the romance, wot isn't necessarily accurate. I knows twas the romance o' piracy tha' made me interested in its history, which I wrote me term paper on.
  23. So twas the fourth, an' me family 'ad a liddle gatherin' o' friends at our house ta watch the fireworks. We had cheese an' crackers on the porch, an' somebody wanted ta know what kind o' cheese we had. So I says, "we gots monterrey jack, gouda, and jarlsberg, which jest happens ta be a pirate's favorite kind o' cheese. yarrrrlsberg." ridiculous bad pun I know. somebody ferbid me fra tellin' jokes fer the rest o' the night, but I figgered I'd share it seein' as it is mildly piratical
