  1. Due to my jumping ship and gettin divorced, me ex (in spite) took me racing sailboat in the divorce. Me new mate, gunner Gordon, had acquired a 25 St. Pierre Dory to woo me to the sea, but alas we decided it was not the ship for us. He has his 1000 ton Captain's license, so we're looking for a bigger ship.

  2. I just wanted to relate a recent experience my partner and I had traveling. We had travel to Louisana to do some shooting. We ended up staying longer than planned and were wearing the same clothes we had the day before, while shooting, to the airport.

In the past, we had traveled in our pirate garb, full of black powder residue from swabbing cannons, and never had an issue. We would stroll past the sniffer dogs and screeners with ease.

This time, because my partner had been shooting smoke-less powder, the TSA needed to swab him. They swabbed his hands and swabbed his phone which all came back positive for gun powder. When we explained why we had been in Louisana and confirmed my partner's identity and licenses, we were allowed to proceed.

So if you're thinking about taking a CCW course or other 'firearms' licensing course, it might be helpful for verifying your compliances to the laws regarding firearms and the our current government. Sadly, I think this has more to with our current government's attitude toward firearms than about the security of our nation.

  3. looking for a good source for melting down lead igots for cannon ball mold? anotherwards looking for lead at a bulk rate? any pirate blokes here know of a good source?

You could always use the lead from old automotive batteries.

  4. Agreed, I figure it was melted within a few hours of the theft honestly... no trace of it at that point....If these folks took the time to plan how they would do it, I am going to guess they had the forethought to figure out how to take care of any 'evidence' after they got it. My guess is the best the museum can hope for is that they catch them and can file criminal charges... but I am pretty sure the melted gold has already been sold.

I disagree that the most the museum can hope for is to file criminal charges. I'm sure the museum has already filed a claim with their insurance company. Now there is a bounty on those pirates by the biggest syndicate of all. They will be caught and the museum will be slapped (insurance dropped or premiums raised) for not keeping track of the goods. Visiting the museum will cost more to those who love these places.

  5. PIRATES

Looking for authentic-looking scavenger-types… ages 18 to 60s, all ethnicities, especially extreme characters – very thin, lean body types, very tall, very short, emaciated, odd features, huge nose, bulging eyes, big ears, lazy eye, grizzled and wrinkled faces, odd body types, missing teeth etc. Not looking for hearty eaters….me ‘earties…

I bet we see quite a few of familiar faces from the West Coast. Unfortunately, I'm too pretty to qualify. :P

  6. I emailed Ms. Callahan over a week ago and have not heard back. I suspect with all the activity on this forum, her 'inbox' is quite full. We look forward to attending, in any capacity we can assist.

If we go...the hubby and I, we will be a drumming, hopefully with the other musicians that show up and for all the pirates, lords & ladies. But our appearance depends upon if we will be able to camp outside of the Fort, since all we haves of right now is a modern tent.

If you would like to be part of the musical entertainment at the fort, please pm Fayma directly.

  7. The other issue with the Mythbusters splinter test was that when the projectile hit the wooden "wall", it bent over and absorbed a great deal of the impact, so it was never going to be an accurate test anyway, regardless of the charge.

Don't get me started on the rest of the episode...

Historical accuracy is in the budget. The budget for Mythsbusters is for a 2nd rate cable television show. How accurate did you expect them to be on that kind of budget? It's not like they had a budget amount similar to Avatar's.

    Reality Television....

    Low budgets, No SAG

    gotta love it.

  8. Me mate, Gunner Gordon and I were just discussing these facts as well. It would be a waste to use all up all your powder and not get the effect of splintering.

  9. I can't wait for POTC4 to hit with a bang. I'm sitting on a boatload of collectibles from the other films and am looking to make a killing when I sell off my collection. ;)

I'm trying to save up for a trip to Key West.
