  2. I'm just kinda curious How many of you seadogs & Buccaneers out there either collect or have any artwork (orginals or prints) that are Naval, piratical or historical in nature, or are even remotely interested in art. What about "comic" artwork, any of you swabs have any pirate comics or art? I'm always interested in that format, I've never seen any myself, though I've heard somebody had done some pirate comics recently. I have some old magazines from the late 20's early 30's that have illustrated Rapheal Sabatini stories in them. Just kinda curious to see what everybodies interests are as far as art goes I myself have a few pieces of original art, and would like to have some orginal pirate pieces, Don Maitz's stuff is cool, so is Angus McBrides, unfortunately out of my price range-LOL! 3. Cap'n William That's the kind of living history & reenacting that our club is interested and has been doing for the last few years, overall we've been doing living history & reenacting for close to 20 years. We pratice progressive or campaign style living history of Revolutionary war units, as well as early maritime sailors, longhunters, and even some old west gunfighter stuff. We're interested in starting up a pirate group dedicated to period firelock shooting, engaging in sword fighting, both stage and fencing, as well as portraying what real pirates and even pirate hunters looked and acted like during the 1690 to 1730 period. We're even interested in doing a little "hollywood" pirates stuff merely for laughs. We've dubbed our sloop the "Harlot" and are working at putting together our kits, we're also looking for a few interested men or women to join us here in oregon. Cheers! Redhand

  5. Capt. Flint Is the "Pirates-Terror on the high seas" book you're talking about the one illustrated by angus McBride & authored by angus Konstam? That's a great book, with lots of great illustrations by McBride. I managed to pick it up at a local used book store in brand new condition for $15 bucks, and got another for a mere $5 by a guy maned Sherry, titled Rebels & Rascals or something like that, it's about the golden age of piracy. looks pretty extensive, had a interesting chapter devoted entirely to Black Beard, it covers the late 1680-90s until about the 1740s. Looking forward to getting into it. The Pirate book is great though, if only to look at! Check out www.powellsbooks.com they're a really great used & new book store in Portland, they have 3 store, but the main one is an entire city block! and about three stories! Cheers & good reading Redhand

The movie is about two of Napolean's Hussar officers who have a fued over a period of about 15 years. Great movie, costumes & cinematography!! It's not available on either video or dvd right now, but look at your local video stores and ebay or 1/2 dot com it's worth getting a copy of it. Cheers! Redhand
