regarding the alcohol - grand cayman (george town) the tortuga company has a variety of cakes but best of all is there rum, its smoothe -they only ditribute spiced rum to the states , but over there there they dont distribute there other flavors not sure why, vanilla and my favorite is the mango, it is the best rum you will ever have, and in mexico 1921 cream of tiquilla, wow that is very good stuff. 1921 sometimes you can find it in the states.

i take a cruise every year to the caribbean or mexico- with carnival or royal caribbean cruise lines- nvr had a problem -what did ya think about the cruise, in the 80's cruising was better than today, but still its the cheapest way to vacation and to see many ports within aweek , all food and entertainment included, makes ya feel how comfortable we have it in life, compared to our counterparts we try to all be and act like in todays society. imagine the life they had and the freakin humidity and lack of knowledge, sickness,diseases,medical care,diet, and just physical labor daily grind, we have it so easy sippin on margaritas lounging at sea. it's funny to see alot of re'enactors wearing big frock coats -captain coats at faires all dressed up- try wearin that in the caribbean ya think its humid in florida try roatan, belize, grand cayman, jamiaca, haiti, grand turks,barbados, maybe in england,spain,italy,scotland. but not there, we all need to experience the caribbean to imagine what it may have been like , i feel they wore little as possiable during the winter months, cant imagine what they wore during the summer months. keep the sails going

you all need to try this, i haven't named this drink yet, but it needs a name,before you name it i recomend drinking it first, you wont be able to taste the alcohol until its too late! here is the recipe 2-4 gallons of apple cider boil with 4 big hand fulls of red hot candies -let dissolve while boiling keep mixing until candies completly dissolve , throw in a big hand full of cinnamon sticks, ( find in the bulk section at the grocery store the red hots and cinnamon sticks) boil down to, 2 gallons of liquid , strain for inperfections, let cool. pick up everclear add 1 litter to the cooled mix, put into onion bottles and enjoy the drink. it should look red in color when done. tell me what ya think. enjoy-WAUGH

hurricane - i do enjoy the encampment and sociallife at night at rendezvous and pirate faires, but if i were alone for ftpi / pip 2011, finding a space with another mates hospitality would be great, although bed and breakfest, hot tub , queen bed and a "shower" relaxing and being on vacation and enjoying the lazy life and relaxing in key west, getting out of garb is neccessary when on a vacation with a fiance, have best of both worlds for several days atleast. looking forward to next years key west pirate doings. thank you .

try boiling 2 gallons of apple cider and liberal amount of red hot candies big fist fulls, until they dissolve, add cinnamon sticks to the boil for about 1 hr, let cool and strain out imperfections, add everclear (1 litter) , let stand in onion bottles and enjoy a few days later.

sounds like i will be in key west for the festival, so the fort invasion is actualy a different group than pip, and pip is more around duval area. i've been to key west several times, just not for the pirate festivals. i have stayed at the PALMS HOTEL @ 820 white street, bed and breakfeast. is this to far from the fort festivals, are there closer hotels centraly located between duval and the fort? i would like to set up my pavillion in the fort, but travlin by airplane space is limited. if i come to pip and the fort can i brang my weapons including my baldric of flintlock pistols and walk around? does the city care if ya walk duval street with flintlocks, i was considering renting scooters and riding them with full dress is that allowed down there.

FTPI what does that mean? my dilema is i have family in tampa florida, i come out for thanksgiving every year for a week, then i do a cruise for a week, to the caribbean to several different areas with royal caribbean or carnival cruises. i need to make up my mind weather its st. augustine or PIP. st augustine is usually the week before thanksgiving and PIP is roughly a week after, i will be taking 3 weeks off during this time cant make up my mind which event has more to do. i live out west and do alot of pirate faires there. i am looking for a primitive event but more things going on than just an encampment and shooting/ traders and trade sutlers selling period wares is what i like seeing which has better traders? which has better entertainment? i am thinking on PIP , but want more feed back. also what happend to the st petersburg pirate faire, i know not real primitive faire but was fun. i was in florida for thanksgiving never found out what happend to this event this year.
