As you've come to find, it's a common theme. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memento_mori I'm especially fond of the skull watches from the period.
-
I haven't watched it in awhile, but the last time I watched it it was in hi-def. Very nice.

Haha... being born and bred in Baltimore, I know better than to go into the city unarmed.

True. Let's face it, death is walking alongside each and every one of us. You can be here one moment, and gone the very next. And never even know what hit you. All the more reason to live life like a pirate. Carpe diem and all that, eh wot!

Holy crap... what a loss... such a tragic waste... (EDIT: In my original post, I ended with "remember kids, don't do drugs". I deleted it some moments thereafter, but not before Bess had a chance to respond. I didn't notice until now. I believe Bess' has more continuity when one knows the original ending of my post.)

Mr Balls gives his classification of the three types of swords at the top of this thread on my forum, here. It might help you understand a little better exactly what you are looking for. I believe it all boils down to what do you plan on using it for, and how much are you willing to spend. Since I don't usually pull a sword on people, more often than not I carry a hunting sword from Godwin. If I was going to buy a new sword for sparring with... well... most people I know go with Armourclass. That being said, Matt's stuff does look very good.

That's one sweet looking site Greg. My hat's off to ya!
-
I can understand. If anything ever happened to my Sarah Juniper shoes I'd be beside myself. Matt, if you ever do get your historical kit together, the door to the Pirate Brethren is always open. Hell, we probably live all of fifteen minutes from one another... I should stop by your shop after work one day just to check it out!

Depp... I gotta take my hat off to the guy, not only did he donate $2 million to the hospital that treated his daughter, but he showed up in secret dressed as Jack Sparrow and told stories to kids there. Brings a tear to this old pirates eye... http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...5012974,00.html

I dunno... could be rather amusing. Of course, I wouldn't pay money for it, but if it was free, and they interviewed someone whose point of view I'd be curious to hear (Shatner, for instance... and they do say the line-up is Trek next), I'd tune in at least once.

I prefer the pirates' day... wake up with a hangover... get drunk... fall asleep... wake up with a hangover... get drunk... &c

Can I find it on Netflix? As a D&D geek, I'm embarrassed to say I haven't watched any of the D&D movies. I hear one of them has a pretty good beholder in it. ps - there is that much Dragonlance stuff?!?!? I still think of Dragonlance as that new world. Ha. I guess it's been around for 25 years now?
-
Probably maybe depending on who you ask.

Wow! Very nice! I'm impressed!

Yes.... And the majority of the 63 people I've laid off over the last week and half could care less about a Pirate movie. Dang... that'll include writers of LOST I take it... Best written show on tv... ever.

Cool. I hope to see a desert someday. Gun in hand or not.

Hampton Blackbeard Pirate Festival '08
blackjohn replied to Captain of the 'REVENGE''s topic in July
Well... having been there, I understand the space limitations and the need to keep track the who and the where. Events are balancing acts. Especially festival type events, and the right mix is needed to get the job done. Planners need to consider the amount of room and who will be occupying it doing what. I seem to recall hearing that they've moved it from the little plot of land wedged between and parking lot and the water, where space was severely limited, to another space. But whatever plot of land it was moved to can't be that much larger, so again, I understand the need to keep an eye on how many pirates are taking up how much room. It makes sense, and I can see how bbcdductchman would be hesitant. I'd like to go back to Hampton, meet a few of you who I've never met before, and drink a round or two with you, so any hesitation on my part is only due to the fact that so many events are vying for dates in May and June. -
Well its not going to be Pyratie..... But I do have a Letter of Marque from Emporor Norton...... I have a difficult time getting in a Pyratical mood in Winter, so (other than the Pub), I'm going to play something else for awhile..... I'm also planning on going to Burning Man this year, so that will cut into some of my Pyrate Tyme..... I wonder how many prize courts will recognize that letter? This will only make it worse... http://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/brassgoggles/ http://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/bg-forum/ !!!

Sweet. I can't wait to see the results!

My pleasure, ma'am. I'm a big fan of steam, and weird Victoriana. Not so much a cyberpunk fan. Though that may be because I've never read any. Is your dad a builder of things like our estimable Mr Hand?

For Mr Hand and others who enjoy a little SF in their Victoriana... http://bigredhair.com/boilerplate/

Doh! My apologies... that would be Saturday, February 2nd. It's a once a year thing. Usually the last Saturday in January or the first in February. Tickets sold out back in September, but I may have a spare. The mill's website wherein you can find the exact address: http://www.pgparks.com/places/eleganthisto...lphi_intro.html

I would, but I'm sure my antiquated pc couldn't handle it. I'm a PS3 kinda guy... and... I'd rather spend money on upgrading my pirate kit than my pc.

Ahoy shipmates, just curious if any of you are planning to attend the 24th (at least, I believe this is 24... though it might be 23) edition of the Adelphi Mill Pirate Feast, here on the outskirts of Washington, DC? If so, make yerself known and I'll share some rum with ye. Pics And, if anyone is interested in going, but doesn't have a ticket, I may have a spare that I'd be willing to part with.
