    Mr. Cross -

LOL :o Like a block of Stilton or Cheddar or perhaps a prune danish.

Bos'n, looks like you lucked into a very nice blade. :o

    Adam -

Nice job! I like the pattern left by the rasp teeth and the antler handle.

  2. I smoke an occasional cheroot and I have a skull shaped meerschaum pipe which I adore! I really want a double cigar holder like Captain Hook uses though. Do you have one Jas Hook?

    doubleholder.gif

No M'lady Hook with an 'e'. Ner' a single nor double have I. Why I haven't spied many holders over the past few years, them hav'n fallen into disfavor. I do recall some nifty ones carved out of meerschaum though, as well as many meerschaum pipes. The one meerschaum I treasure to this day is the one that M'lady gave to me as a personal wedding gift thirty-five years ago.

Hummmmm... a carved skull ye say. Could start a trend here and sort of replace the hot-as-hades clay pipes.

  3. Here's a litle ditty for all you users of the leaf -

    "Tobacco doth an Indian weed,

from the Devil it doth proceed,

It picks your pocket and burns your clothes,

and makes a chimney of your nose."

  4. Kilo -

"Once I smoke the cigar down enough, I split it open and smoke the remaining tobacco through my pipe."

Yech... that's the worst, all that concentrated crap... leave the stub for your local hobo!

Try some Captain Black (white pouch) pipe tobacco. ;)

These days I prefer a cigar usually with a 50+ ring size.

  5. Perhaps, but now I feel even more devilish drinking it. . . . . devil.gif:lol:

  7. Not period in the least but when I needed a replacment lens that size I decided to make a stain glass style lens out of broken rolling rock and heinikin bottles. It turned out great regardles of it not being "correct" and the glass has a very unique glow to it.

    LOL :P

The early version of a neon bar sign.

  8. as a glass blower, the things i would look for in a period peice of glass would be seed bubbles, a greenish tint, inconsistant thickness, and a size no more than 12 inches. and 12 inch glass would be very expensive.the glass should be a soda lime glass, that is to say, somewhat soft to the touch, it feels slightly slippery, and softish when compaired to modern glass.

the best place to get a replacement pannel would be a glass blowing facility. i happen to have access to one and the knowledge to make said glass. if you send me the demensions you are looking at then i can see what it would require to make it.

    Matty -

I checked out some commercial on-line places an was poleaxed by the silver required for a light green blown seeded glass.

Each piece was like a bottle o' Kraken an a half. It didn't sound too bad at .22 per sq. in. till ye add up the squares. dry.gif

    3 6x8 1 5x7.5

Considering the lantern was only 10 with ripple glass lens. :P

  9. A sheet of thin cow horn would do less likely to bust but v. stinky if the candle falls on it.

    Grymm -

I've seen horn in smaller lanterns. The replacement size I need would take a couple o' Texas Longhorns and I also haven't found any mica sheets the right size. :P

  10. I was originally going to take my flag here to be finished and use their results as the official flag, or at least as the one we carry around. Now that I see other people make flags here, I'm not so sure. I'll have to compare quality and prices.

Do you mean William makes the flags or just makes the design?

William Red Wake is indeed a master flag designer. His are the absolute best I have ever seen. If you wanted to take your design and have it crafted into a real flag, the Pyrate Trading Co. whose link you have posted here is a fine choice! I know the owner, Jeff MacKay, he is a fellow member of the Order of Leviathan/Devil's Dozen and is an exemplary fellow! Plus, he makes the finest pirate hats on the market...

Be wary Captain Midnight et al -

Captain McKay heads up the honorable, PIRATE Trading Company which should not be confused by the dubious Pyrate Trading Company of Shawnee KS , that may have struck a reef and sank. dry.gif

  11. ST -

How about a scrap sheet of plywood with your head circumference cut out (try cardboard as a pattern mock-up first)

Jig saw the hole in the plywood and sand as necessary

Place the holed plywood over the crown to flatten down the brim on a flat surface

For long term, backup the brim with an additional flat piece of pylwood and pony clamp the plywood pieces to clamp the brim

  12. How about an 'Ambachts Roestbikkertje' (Ambacht being my home port, and the rest could be translated as 'Little Rust-Chipper' ), a local herbal liqueur...

    Ahoy thar' Cap'n Frankie -

How much rust does this fine spirit remove? Ain't got but so much rust left to be chipped these days.

  13. Hahahahaha.... Thank ye, Oderlesseye. Nothin' gets me on m' best than in th' heat of battle. Loves th' roar of th' cannons.

Wait? JUST th' crusted salt? Apparently I'm not stompin' hard enough then.

Hahahaha... oh, now I think that's a challenge, Oderlesseye! When next we cross paths... we shall see who best holds their rum. wink.gif Aye?

    ~Lady B

Wow, I think M'lady has just tugged on someone's wiskers! wink.gif

  14. Hummmmmm...

No posts for almost three weeks? Can all ye folks be on the wagon?

Well thanks to a fine New Joisey purveyor of wines and spirits I scrounged up a bottle of Kraken Rum over the holiday weekend.

    Good stuff that! wink.gif
