  4. Here's something I made a few months ago for your gandering pleasure. It's a two Reales coin from 1749, which I've set in a compass rose design 14K Gold pendant, which I designed to have fleur-de-lis elements. I really enjoy this type of pendant, and I do a lot with Ancient Roman Coins, too. This and more at my humble web store at ThingsRichandStrange.com I do custom work, too, if I can tempt anyone: Need something like this for your crew? Cheers, Old Crow

  9. Nothing I love more than finding modern expressions with Nautical origins. I'm sure you are all familiar with: Pooped Dreadnought (not just a guitar) Loose Cannon Taken Aback Three Sheets to the Wind Let the Cat out of the Bag Enough Room to Swing a Cat I'm not remembering more right now, but am always noticing them. Anyone else?
  10. Oh, No, it simply could not be as bad as The Pirate Movie (1982) Starring: Kristy McNichol, Christopher Atkins could it?
  11. That is just awfully darn nice. As good as it looks in the first pictures, it really comes to life when it's held in the picture. What's the Boucan connection, the story of the name? Is it to be used for carving up BBQ? Looks right handy. Out here in Depoe Bay, we have Riptide Barbeque right next door to Pirate Coffee Company and I had to explain to Zeke, the owner, that he's a Boucaneer next door to a Pirate. Course up the road a few blocks is the Pirate Cove gift shop, Pirate's Booty Pub, and down the road the other way is Cap'n Dan's Pirate Pastry Shop and the new Black Pearl Pub. We're a little nutty here on the Oregon Coast, and it doesn't hurt that there's a bay here called Pirate Cove. Anyway, very nice, and beautiful are the others on your website, too!
  12. Yes, but how about THIS version... Oh, the year was 1978, HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! When a score of men were turned quite green, By the scummiest ale you've ever seen. CHORUS: God damn them all! I was told this beer was worth its weight in gold, We'd feel no pain; shed no tears; But it's a foolish man who shows no fear, At a glass of Garnet's home made beer. Oh, Garnet Rogers cried the town, HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! For twenty brave men, all masochists, Who would taste for him his home made brew. CHORUS This motley crew were a sickening sight, HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! There was "Caveman Dave" with his eyes in bags, He'd a hard-boiled liver and the staggers and jags. CHORUS We hadn't been there but an hour or two, HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! When a voice said, "Gimme some home-made brew!" And "Steeleye Stan" hove into view. CHORUS Now Steeleye Stan was a fighting man. HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! He was eight foot tall and four foot wide, Said, "Pass that jug or I'll tan yer hide!" God damn them all! I was told this beer was worth its weight in gold, We'd feel no pain; shed no tears; But it's a foolish man who shows no fear, At a glass of Garnet's home made beer. Stan took one sip and pitched on his side. HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! Garnet was smashed with a gut-full of dregs, And his breath set fire to both me legs. CHORUS So here I lie with me twenty-third beer. HOW I WISH I'D NEVER TRIED IT NOW! It's been ten years since I felt this way, On the night before me wedding day. God damn them all! I was told this beer was worth its weight in gold, We'd feel no pain; shed no tears; But it's a foolish man who shows no fear, At a glass of Garnet's home made beer. by the great.... Ian Robb Funny thing, I've got a friend named Dave, who's called Caveman too.
  13. this should be followed by: Put him in the rum barrel 'til he's pickled
  14. Then again if yer in Seattle, there's a sea shanty sing the second friday, I believe, of the month at northwest seaport. Not that I ever make it myself. We're going to get something started on the Oregon Coast this year, I swear it.
