This is the Queen Anne version of the Letter of Marque Queen Anne Letter of Marque issued by Joseph Dudley, Esq; Captain General and Governor General in Chief, in and over Her Majesties Provinces of the Massachusetts Bay, and New-Hampshire in New-England in America. It is 18"x25" like many of the original ones and has the strip of seals at the bottom like like original documents of the era too created by folding the bottom of the document up then fixing it with paper loops that are held in place with the seals. It was researched as much as I could from actual letters or marque, royal charters and indentures to make it as authentic as possible. It is written by Issac Adlington who was secretary to Joseph Dudley, and is signed and sealed by both men and Queen Anne. All the signatures are actual reproductions of surviving examples. The document can be customised with your name, the name of your ship and the type of ship. $55 http://www.etsy.com/...tters-of-marque

I read that Blackbeards papers were taken by Maynard and handed in with the prisoners. There was a fire in the virginia records office aparently some time after this that may account for them going missing if indeed they didnt make it back to old blighty.

Speaking of his log book I saw an article once that quoted from his log book. Does this mean it still survives somewhere? And if so does anyone have a link to it or a copy that is for sale?

I would say that it is off a hunting hanger. From the decoration I would say most likely French (the pommel shows fleur-de-lise emblems too). It is also very similar in design to this late 18th century American Sword : http://www.cowanauctions.com/auctions/item.aspx?ItemId=45108 What i'd be intereted to know was if it had a shell guard attached below the hilt thats fallen off when the blade corroded.

The only problem I have had as a seller was when i accidentally posted something as international surface mail rather than email. The maps I sent disappeard into the postal system only to reappear 2 months later just as i was about to send out replacements. I definately wouldnt recommend anything but airmail for international transactions

I'll trade you a belt for it if you dont mind shipping it to the UK? What color, width and length are you after?

very cool

He wouldnt have fought Maynard with it though anyway as this was a hilt found aboard the Queen Annes Revenge which had sunk (sank??) by the time he fought him.

This is a replica of the actual Pardon certificate given out by Benjamin Bennet, the then governor of Bermuda, to any pirate that surrendered to him to take advantage of the Kings Pardon. This pardon was laid out in the Act of Grace, a proclamation issued in 1717 that stated that if a pirate was to surrender before a specified date to any English government official then they would be granted a pardon from their past crimes. This proclamation is also available here: http://www.etsy.com/...nd-king-georges The pardon is actual size and comes on period correct laid paper. It features the signature and seal of Benjamin Bennet and Woodes Rogers who is added as a witness. The document can be customised with Your name and the Date you choose $33 http://www.etsy.com/...the-governor-of

This is a custom made Letter of Marque that can be issued by Queen Anne, King George the first or King George the Second. It is 18" x 25" like many of the original ones and has the strip of seals at the bottom like like original documents of the era too. It was researched as much as I could from actual letters or marque, royal charters and indentures to make it as authentic as possible. It is witnessed by the correct secretary of state for the perod and a representative of the Admiralty and features the seal and signature of the King or Queen. All the signatures are actual reproductions of surviving examples. It can be customised with your name, the name of your ship and the type of ship. It is printed on a heavyweight parchment vellum which feels and looks as close to an original 1715 vellum indenture that I could get (I know as i own one. Modern leather vellum seems very brittle compared to this 18th century one). It folds down into a more transportable 4.5" x 8.5" also based on surviving indentures of this period. $55 http://www.etsy.com/listing/72020806/replica-letters-of-marque

1706 Queen Anne Dragoon Pistol from the Contemporary Makers blog site A detailed replica of a early English dragoon pistol circa 1706 during the reign of Queen Anne. The pistol is stocked in walnut finished to almost black tone. The barrel, lock, and brass furniture are polished bright. The lock, barrel, and stock are marked with period proof marks. Assembled and marked by contemporary builder John Bosh with his makers mark. This pistol is assembled around a 14" octagon-to-round smoothbore barrel. The barrel has a tapered octagon breech with a transition to sixteen flats with a wedding band to round. No sights are fitted, which is typical for a military pistol designed to be used at close range http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/partDetail.aspx?catId=12&subId=81&styleId=284&partNum=AAJ-524

As if to prove that the Kings Forge grappling hook is bang on period for us I have just found this one on an auction site: Large iron grappling hook, professionally conserved. 12 lb, 25" tall and about 17" wide. Impressively intact 4-pronged hook with ring through eyelet at top, very solid and only lightly striated by corrosion, coated black (no rust), probably used by Spanish salvagers after the wreck, first we have seen from the 1715 Fleet.
