  1. All I have to say is... WOW! I will be ordering some very shortly, but I'll be afraid to brew it. If you could pardon my ignorance, what is the best, most historically accurate way to brew coffee? With this coffee, i don't know if I could put it in my modern machine and feel OK with it.
  2. "we" may be interested in attending. But I am no wench! I am a dignified lady. *herumph!* is there a "place" for "period" pirates? What is the fee? and is there camping/ period encampment? EEK! I can't really tell by the site there... :-/ But I am not too smart. Oh, and would I have to peace-tie my wooden spoon?
  3. My babies... Lucy, also known as "nammy-naise" or "shnugga" Tippy, or "tippers" (as called by Kian/Sean) the uber cuddly one Pheonixx- the bitchy one who doesn't like to admit to wanting to be pet and Kilter the bun who likes to poop... everywhere
  4. I picked up RB: The Widow Maker by CC Colee and the next two books of the trilogy this past weekend at Lockhouse. The author was there. Apparently, these books are pirate smut (yey!) So far (a few chapters in) so good. I like the characters. Oh, and my books are autographed. =) I'm so special.
  5. I thought this might be the crowd to show this to. I have a super cute crocheted, baby/toddler, hooded "carriage" cape for sale ($25 shipped in US). It's made from "Vanna's Choice" acrylic yarn so that it is easy to clean, though it does look like wool. The color is an interesting brown/gray with hunter green buttons. It would be perfect for chilly evenings or fall/ spring events and could easily work for "steampunk baby edition" =P If anyone is interested please PM me. I can accept paypal, moneyorders and personal checks. Thanks!!! PS. if anyone is interested in this style, but a different color, just let me know, I would be happy to make one to your specifications. =)
  6. Real life? What's that... I'm a full time pirate "crew mother" these days.... Though while I was in school everything related back to piracy (Spanish and Geography in particular... and of course there were elements of World's End in Contemporary novel which went quite well with piracy...)
  7. I used three strands as well. more than that made it too bulky and icky.
  8. lol. Had to leave that to Kate. I lost my camera, then found it, took two drunken pictures from the perspective of my drunken position laying in the grass and then it died.
  9. I don't even know where to start on this one. My crew was delighted to be there, and as previously stated, the hospitality was amazing. We felt quite welcome and certainly appreciate also being able to partake in battle with borrowed weapons. I can't believe I was actually allowed to shoot! (just not near anyone... lol) I do have to apologize for any bruises left on Munk by my spoon. It was very nice to see "my boys" involved, and everyone there was so encouraging and willing to help. I can't wait to do more events like this- is having been our first "period" pirate encampment. What a way to start! I was so excited to get there (and especially to meet my new friend, the lovely Kate) I was squeaking in the car and bouncing up and down. Hubby said it was like when you bring a kid to the zoo for the first time. We met so many wonderful people this weekend, I can't even believe it. (pirates are such lovely people!) Definitely learned a lot, and everyone is not addicted to black powder! Oh, and I'm sorry to disappoint but I managed not to catch fire. Sorry Kate!LOL.
  10. ...And Michaels arts and crafts now sells linen embroidery floss. =) If ye have one nearby it's great. one skein makes quite a few buttons... Oh, and I got my ego boosted this weekend when my buttons were complimented. =)
  11. Yeah... Mine didn't come out so pretty... the thread I am using is crap which is not helping at all...
  12. See, I like the idea of "kudos" like a reward if someone does something good, and people can show appreciation, but we can do that without extra buttons. I would be sad if I got a "negative" *sniffle* some of us are delicate.... =P Oh, the pub looks very pretty by they way... Very bright...
  13. I'm not familiar with any of those... :-/ maybe the marvelous HULU can help! I didn't finish watching the show last night (it was waaaaaay past my bedtime) but I thought it was kinda cute, but she was being such a bitch at times I wanted to punch her in the face.
  14. Haha, I was just about to post that! I'm watching it too. It's kinda cool. The gadgets are super nifty...
  15. I'm making dorset buttons and they hate me. For some reason, I can't get the spokes centered, when I pull them together in the center, they pull to one side. Is there a trick?
  16. Maybe she just has similar interests? =P
  17. I LOVE IT!!!! It's the perfect excuse to drink more of that particular rum. I happened to have two bottles already, though they are usually in use for beverage... How did you narrow the passage, exactly? What is a "flange"? and what did you use for the wooden pieces, are those pre-cut or did you do that yourself? Again, fantastic work. I love it.
  18. Nice job, mister. I have to say, I am impressed with your bargain skills. =P
  19. Hubby took me to see "Public Enemies" for our Anniversary. It was pretty good, lots of action and the effects with the shooting were impressive. I really don't like Christian Bale, he annoys me so much and was particularly annoying (as an actor and character) in this movie. But that's just me.
  20. Happy Canada Day! As Kian said, we are having a mini encampment at someone's house... And celebrating me and hubby's 2 year anniversary! (yes, ironic I know... to be married on Independence day!) I think someone mentioned cake....
  21. Oh! the fourth of July is the Lady Brower and Flintlock John's wedding anniversary! Another excellent "excuse" for cake.... Yum....
  22. Who needs an excuse to make cake? ...but if you need one, I know of an event coming up where there will be a lady who likes cake....
  23. Oh! I have to go over there tomorrow for yarn and wood parts for buttons... perfect! Last time I was there they had all sorts of pirate kiddie stuff...
