  1. Welll Dutch...

I'm gonna back Sterling in the stopping of you from the reckless course of action...

But since you brought up Batteau, I found This Quote some time ago in some colonial archives, which document the use of Batteaus to our period (the quote is from 1711)...

Michael, stopping and encouraging in the same breath? :P:P

That's like "Born to Kill" written on your helmet and a "Peace Sign" on yer flak jacket ......... :P

Symbolizing the Duality of Man, eh

Dutch, I too know the feeling of a too full plate ..... get a bigger plate .... 'course there aren't enough hours in the day to "clean yer plate".

This oak you mentioned .... is it sawn an' dry? Perhaps we can make a trade an' ye can keep yer check. :P:P

  2. I have this rig, and honestly, its a nightmare to work with... as I was moving from stern to bow on the Explorer last weekend, we all came to the conclusion that this particular set up may just be an artist's imagination....

I have to agree, the belt is much more secure, particularly if you have to go aloft during a fight, things swing about ... catch in the rigging .......

If there were braces for gear, why not fer me britches? Keep 'em from slidin' down me backside. Fat boy like me ... no hipbones to hold 'em up.

Put the strap under a belt and you constrict your movement ......

A simpler time, i.e. gear not so complicated as a few years beyond ...

Just my opinion, trust me I'd love to make and sell more complicated stuff, but I do have cartridge box slings from the "future" that can be adapted to fit a cartouche box ....

  3. I made it home safe early Tues, AM.

That's what happens when ya leave the event at the crack o' noon on Mon.

Slept a little while then had to go to Orlando, just got back from there early this AM, but I did get to go to WDW so that was OK.

'twas a bit like .... " Ye just finished plunderin' Hampton, what arrrr ye gonna do now?"

"I'm goin' ter Disney World!" Rode PotC twice I did!

THANKS TO ALL AGAIN, FOR A GRAND SEVERAL DAYS! HUZZAH!

  4. I had a great time. For my second pirate event it was great, enjoyed the heck out of meeting all you other pub members ....

All of you helped me have a great time

Blackbeard's Crew, (I won't mention the egg that was left in my tent, you know who laid it!)

Boners ..... sorry (known their 19th century descendants long enough to know how they were)..... BONEY'S,

I finally saw Crispy And Nell in the same place at the same time!

Archangel's ( it was nice finally meeting my long haired half brudda) I hope Cheeky's fleur de lis' is not too tender.

    and all the Others ....

THANK YOU ALL FOR AN OUTSTANDING WEEKEND !!!!!!

  5. Dutch, do you want me to bring Robbie up with me, if he's walkin' I'll probably see him.

I'll let him ride in the back, I don't if I can take his nonstop ramblin'.

I got the impression that Capt. Sterling was dissapointed that Robbie was not gonna make an appearance.

Let me know if I can help.

  6. That's what Callenish means ..... Cannibal?

Using that logic, should Cannibal Crispy properly be referred to as Callenish Crispy .... I mean if he were from an island in the North Atlantic.

Pyrates wouldn't like me I'm all gristle an' fat.

Not like sea turtle or manatee, both of which also taste great.

  7. 'twas meant as a compliment, see if they can set a taping of the Mistress Lilly Show .....

Her new cutlass is a slicer, a dicer, a mankiller from Ronco

This weeks episode, "Salamagundi" mystery ingredient salted boucanned Pork

wash it down with a spirited Rum Punch

  8. Oh Miss Lilly your new avatar looks like a screen shot from a cooking show on the GAoP food network.

Sorta a Rachel Ray with a cutlass!

  9. Aye welcome to ye, and don't be fooled when Rumba Rue said she hadda look twice ...... she was lookin' up your skirt! She does that so she can see your undies,

    but I learned a trick ......

    gets her everytime .....

    don't wear none!

Seattle, eh can ye get us a good deal on coffee?

  10. I think we're all showin' our age, or at least how much time we spent admiring the photographic skills of those guys .... ;)

It sure was a simpler time, not so clinical, a bit more mystery, a "touch" more romance ...... B)

Of course after seeing how well ya'll recall the work it's a wonder YA AIN'T GONE BLIND!!! B)

Hmmm.... maybe that's why the lighting became so much harsher ..... so we, ....er .... ya'll, could see what you was lookin' at ...

    Yeah, Ya'll that's right. B)

    Well, I gotta go ......

Now stop that or ya will be needin' smoked glasses! B)

Anybody seen my white cane? B)

  11. Patrick, methinks 'e may be the Viceroy's chief cook an' bottle warsher .... Ya know the Viceroy's a bit of a fop ...so 'e'd need 'is bottles warshed.

I think 'e may even carry the P*** Bucket for Sir Hair Bone & The Viceroy.

Probably an indentured servant what needs liberatin' and perhaps 'is 'ands sanitized.

    Scurvy Dog Indeed!

  12. Good lookin tent, great deal, too.

Any mildew? Mild bleach solution inside and out let it air dry. You can do all that stuff to your poles, but as long as they are not stored in standing water just as they are will last forever. We've got poles on the sutler tent that are 20+ years old and they're just fine.

My CW wall tent I used tree branches and they lasted for until my divorce and I left them behind ....

Sounds like a lotta make work ta me, but it's your tent. I would patch the holes 1st, try a local auto upholstery shop we used 1 for tent repairs after storm damage over the years.

If you've any other questions, ya got me # gimme a call.

  13. Look at some of the pics from PiP's past and rig it into a "shebang" style. Shebang is a civil war term but it applies to any sort of rigged cover.

A few years ago several of us tied some canvas to some pine trees and weathered a tropcal storm quite nicely ... in of all places Perryville, Kentucky.

Some rope and some trees and you can rig quite nice.

Is it a 10 yrd roll? cut it in half sew it together and you got a 5 x 5 yard "sail" that you can rig in any number of ways.
