Aye!
Me name be Jim ... the business was started by a man named John. Started in the '60's (1960's not 1660's).
60's, 70's, 80's, 90's he and Nancy ran "Old Sutler John" ... albeit 150 or so years in the future (huh?) ...... early this decade he passed away, a couple years later I met his widow, we hit it off (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). After his passing she kept the biz going, we kept the name of the business, I kept mine, seemed easier that way .... turns out to have been quite confusing ...... but it's been great fun!
In a nutshell, call me what you want, please don't call me late to dinner! Been hanging 'round the Bone Islanders enough now that I'm beginning to have Multiple Personality Disorder. Sutlerjon, Evil Sutler Jim, Jim ..... now thanks to Mr. Tignor "Suggestive" Sutler Jim ... the list goes on.
Just call me and order lots o' stuff fer yer camp! (There's the self promoter part)
Mr. Tignor .... It's not "dirty" it's merely "suggestive".
Or .... (for those of you a couple years older) "You can call me Ray or you can call me Jay or you can call me RayJay" (that's all the bit I remember) just please don't call me >insert feminine denominator here< ..... jus' tryin' ta be "PC".
Also, to quote Debbie Harry "Call me .... " another reference fer the more seasoned citizens here in the Pub!
Endnote, this is one my "complicated" pleasures ... telling this story!

Methinks Cap'n Sterling may have tied at least one of them too tight ...... look what happened to his eye!
Took all the "mystery" out of the neck cloth too, ........................... didn't ye!

Taking an innocent statement made by an unsuspecting person and twisting it, to wring every bit of humor from it, and enjoying the laughter it evokes.
ALWAYS, doing it in a spirit of fun.

Happy anniversary mate! May you never be released from your bonds....and remain a slave to the misses....forever lol

Mr Hawkins,
The tavern is inside the fort, in one the casemates.
There were a couple of food vendors in the fort.
Unless something changes this year, we are allowed to camp in our tents. We can cook our food in the fort, as I recall there were a few well protected open fires in the fort last year.
I personally don't like open fires on sutler row, for obvious safety reasons. Not everyone will be 100% safe all the time. That's why when I prepare food on the row I use a propane camp stove, that I keep out of sight when open for business.
That is my 2 cents from personal experience, I will defer to Capt. Hurricane's advice on this, Capt. Spike should be consulted so as to get the info from the "Horse's Mouth" (?) .......... so to speak
To get a better idea of the parade ground layout, I would suggest, as did Mission, that you refer to the photos in his link a few posts back.
Even when we do CW days in Feb. the re-enactors camp on the beach and we as sutlers are closer to the fort.

All this talk of bathing and such foppery, you all must be friends of Dutch ....
With all the alcohol we'll be plenty disinfected.
Nobody'll notice the smell ......
Bathin'? At an event? Splish, Splash? ...... none for me thanks ..... I'M DRIVIN'.
A bath won't make it any easier to remember the combination to the lock on the gate.

Those are cool.
-
These are still available.

I'm still makin' these.

Ahoy! Cap't Spike,

Happy Birthday Syren!
My puncture wounds have healed so you can poke me with yer Trident agin' as a Special B'day gift fer ya.
The extra cherries are on the Treasue ship headin' fer Galveston Bay, if ya can't get ta Galveston, make sail for Corpus Christi it'll be there a few days later.
If ya miss Corpus, try the old Balinese Ballroom out on Padre Island, if ya don't get the cherries you can at least party like it's 1699 ... o' course a young one such as yerself may not remember that.
