  1. What about if you all backed a cookie of each other and decorated it accordingly. You could do up a trading card the came with the cookie. Once you had all the cards, they would be used to play a game (like a simple version of Magic the Gathering).

    Just a though...

  2. Congratulations to ye from me heart. The passion of yer kind heart bursts out of ye and soon to be seeing it as you work with those most deeply need it.

Well done and a bonnie lass ye be

  3. I am about 75% committed to go to searles at this point. do I need to get permision from a crew or guild to be a part?

Also, what are the priorities for necessities?

    Tent?

    Garb?

    Footwear?

    eating utensils?

    mess kit? Cast iron OK?

    toiletries?

stow gear? Cloth sacks? Can they stay in the encampment, or are we responsible for stowing and monitoring them throught the day/evening.

Do we bring in our own food or do we contribute into larger meals? Are the meals PC?

Will there be rum? SHould the rum I bring be in Kedgs or Leather Grenades?

this is th newbie curse. I be a floundering cod upon the deck with these questions. I 'll pledge ye my strong right arm to the one who sets me straight and true. So says I...

  4. FEELING LIKE AN INTRUDER

I commend all of you on the joy and love of the time you spent there. I will be moving heaven and earth to make sure that I can fill each of your cups next year (or hopefully at some point in the interim).

    ***keeping his jealousy well hidden***

  6. I'm looking at possibly making something along the lines of this...

    LeatherCouat.jpg

Just looking at the cut, not the fancy adds. Will the sleeves be slashed on both sides?

Would this work? I'll use the shirts I currently have. I'll probably make some baggy trousers to go with it

and my boots. (Whoo hoo! I can use them after all. :( ) The pants will be a kinda of drawstring type (I'll probably still button them.)

Kinda of gathered into a waistband. Length will be past the knee about mid - lower calf? Will the leg closure tie or button?

    Thanks!

Would be spectacular to say the least! Would you make it from wool?

  7. Canadians.....sexy?..... ok I've known a few so I'll agree....and your Greek as well... No?? thats a browny point in my book......but Dear Mickey ......You have an ACCENT??? How come I didn't notice an accent?.....Oh wait .. oh yeah.... as usual I was doing most of the talking ....sorry - female malady....I'll listen more attentively next time... not that i can hear that well after all the cannon fire anyway..

Greek as well? I must have been pulling one over on you love... I'm Half French Canadian (who barely speaks French) and Half Scottish-Canadian... No greek in this bod... Maybe a Geek, but no Greek.

Or are you taking "Souris" to be Greek? It's a French word... Look it up, it makes me all the more funny.

souris (f) n. mouse, small rodent with a long tail and a pointy face with little round ears; hand-size input device with buttons that when moved across a surface causes the cursor on the screen to move in the same direction

  8. Gents, are drop front knee britches PC? They have laced tie in the back and buttons on the knee...

My research seems to indicate that drop front breeches are a much later period thing... They start to appear by the 1740s, but don't become common until later in the 18th century... That said, I honestly don't see that as being a detail that will show up much and can probably be hidden if that is what you have.

Well, that is a great excuse to make some new slops!

  9. But I think thar be a better tale to tell. Disney University??? Might ye have been a fair mermaid in a past life????

Nope, I was a TechKNOWLEDGEist at EPCOT Innoventions when I was 18.

    ****pouts a bit*****

Still think the mermaid story would've been better, but still must have been an experience.

   ;);)

Gonna be at Epcot this weekend most likely participating in my favorite sport of "drinking around the world with some of me old Colorado Crew!

  10. Well keel haul me and slap me thrice, but never did I receive any response a'tal to these good brethren's notes.

****POURS a MIGHTY drought of Smithwicks to Captain Jim and a triple jigger of Sailor Jerry Rum to Lady B*******

Captain Jim, I learned about PIP too late to make it this year. I am hoping to make the St. Augustine reenactment in March. Do you know of anything else in the meantime in our waters?

As for the rest of you mangy lot, the bar is open. Come on in and speak your poison and receive yer share.

***Pours self a stiff mug o Sailor Jerry "neat"*****

EDIT - ****2 MUGS OF SAILOR JERRY*****

    Want some?

  11. My injuries did not require an doctors visits, but I did take a picture of the gnarly back and blue my foot received when a certain cannon was rolled over it. heh And wearing heels today back at the office has been a less than delightful experience, alas. All the same, I would go back in a heartbeat and have another cannon rolled over my other toe if it meant having the much fun again!

Good on you, poppet. Feel better soon. Lay of those spikey type shoes for sure!

But I think thar be a better tale to tell. Disney University??? Might ye have been a fair mermaid in a past life????

  12. Oh, and RedJessi, are those Flogging Molly tickets available yet? Been a huge fan for many a year!

Aye, got my tickets ordered and set for delivery. You coming to the show?

Indeed I am lass. Being of fine Irish stock meself, I find it hard to resist raising a pint and listening to my most favorite angsty crooners from the Emerald Isle. I shall be there by me lonesome though, as I think the rest of me crew shall be birthed elsewhere.

If the planets and stars align, I will work it out to tack in the direction of St. Augustine Friday morn after finding me a place to board Thursday night. I have noted that I tend to be a bit wobbly in the legs after a Flogging Molly show. Whether from the dancing or the grog, well, I not really be caring, savvy?

Perhaps I shall see ye there. I have noted, that you stand out in a crowd, and the hall is not so large (as I frequent it often).

  13. Thank you. I don't know if it's a credit to your costuming, my knowledge of all things geek, or both that I recognized all of your costumes without reading the captions.

Even Dawn? Well done, indeed, sir! She's a bit obscure for most!

Wasn't she a redhead who was a pin up drawing? She married the god of death or something like that?

  14. michaelsbagley you look awsome!

    Found this..

"A cravatte is another kind of adornment for the neck being nothing else but a long towel put about the Collar, and so tyed before with a Bow Knott; this is the original of all such Wearings; but now by the Art and Inventions of the seamsters, there is so many new ways of making them, that it would be a task to name, much more to describe them." —Randle Holme, Academy of Armory and Blazon, 1688.

    Is this true?

"Early cravats were made of the lace that was used so much in the period, but people soon grew to prefer the softer feel of a linen or muslin (sheer cotton fabric) cravat. They developed intricate ways to fold and knot their cravats. A new style of wearing the cravat was invented in 1692 by French soldiers fighting in the Battle of Steinkirk. Too rushed to tie their cravats in an intricate knot, they simply twisted the ends of the cloth and stuck it through a buttonhole in their waistcoat or justaucorps. This style became known as the steinkirk cravat."

    I also found this:

...the Steinkerk (named after the Battle of Steenkerque in 1692). Before, the cravat was always worn flowing down the chest; the Steinkerk cravat looped through a buttonhole of the coat.

  15. Portuguese. I love the way Portuguese girls say Minkie when trying to say Mickey.

A close second is Colombian. It might be because I like Colombian women...
