    <H2 itxtvisited="1">Rush On Fourth "Pirates" Status</H2>

By Garth Franklin Thursday September 24th 2009 06:56AM grush_article.jpg?1253797044 Geoffrey Rush tells MTV News that he's ready to get back to work as Captain Barbosa in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", the fourth adventure in the series which kicks off shooting in Spring.

"They're waiting for the screenplay writers to put together something that's beyond the trilogy, take it off into a new direction so that it's fresh and hopefully really interesting for an audience, that they're not going to just sausage-machine out something else, which wouldn't be so good" says Rush who jokingly admits neither the studio or prodder Jerry Bruckheimer1606_magglass.gif haven't been in touch with him about it.

The recent departure of Disney exec Dick Cook has left many questioning about the future of the project, but for now everything seems to be full steam ahead.

  2. Cask is gonna set you back a bit of gold.....Choice is great too had it for the first time in NOLA at PyrateWeek

Well, to my surprise I found some Pyrat Pistol in my local ABC store and I have to say it's rather tasty. I'm certainly no expert, but I like that stuff.

I find meself partial to the Pyrat Pistol as well, whereas me mate Pistol Pete prefers the Pyrat XO. We both intend to try the Pyrat Cask 1623 soon as we're able to pillage it. Anyone tried it yet, what say ye of it?

Ye may notice the bottle of Pirate's Choice nestled in my rack. I seem to have no troubles draining that variety ;-)

  3. pistol is excellent it is distributed by Patron

  4. The auctioneer claims that this brass thing on eBay is a medical device. It almost looks more like navigational device to me, although there was a company named Hood & Reynolds in Boston that made dental fillings in the latter half of the 19th century. Whatever it is, it's an interesting device...

    The auction says,

"I have no idea what this was to measure or it's use although from experimenting with it I seem to think it was a facial device perhaps. The curved small piece fits on your nose well and the long curved piece goes under the chin and the patient could hold to the sides of the "horse shoe" it what I suppose. It seems to fit that yet it's purpose remains a mystery. The wing nuts are cast iron and have pitted patina as you would see in an 18th century item. Works smoothly and has measurments in precise degrees it would seem. Very well made. Has been polished and layered a long time past, just a fabulous device and if any ebayer knows the purpose I will be glad to post it to the site.

    Measures 7 1/4" long 5 " wide."

    torture speculum LOL

  5. <H2 itxtvisited="1">"Boondock" Sequel Opens For Halloween</H2>

By Garth Franklin Wednesday September 2nd 2009 11:10PM boondock_article.jpg?1251951678 Indie distributor Apparition continues its aggressive pickup strategy of late and has acquired the rights to the highly anticipated cult indie sequel "The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" says the trades.

Troy Duffy's followup to 1999's "The Boondock Saints" has Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles as the MacManus brothers who do battle against the Boston mob as they avenge the death of a beloved priest. Billy Connolly, Clifton Collins Jr. and Julie Benz co-star.

  6. Well, I'm excited. I wonder how finished it was? (Being an avid writer, I can tell you there are some things you get all excited about and write, only to find on the first read through that they just aren't suitable, so they sit on your hard drive, unfinished and languishing.)

If it wasnt finished the publisher probally had it refined by a ghost writer

  7. Forget the movie, I didn't know he had a pirate novel coming out! With Crichton's ability to make the most dense ideas palatable one wonders what he did with an easily comprehensible pop topic like pirates. Wiki says, "It is currently considered a spiritual successor to Crichton's other notable historical novel, The Great Train Robbery." I would hope it has more in common with his book Timeline which has some interesting insights and comments on the popular conception of the medieval world vs. the more-or-less scientifically-supported academic theories.

    From Wikapedia

According to Jonathan Burnham, a publisher of an imprint of HarperCollins, the book was written concurrently with Crichton's most recent novel, Next. The novel stars a pirate named Hunter who, together with the governor of Jamaica, plots to raid a Spanish galleon for its treasure. Burnham goes on to say that it is "thoroughly researched...packed through with great detail about navigation and how pirates operated, and links between the New World and the Caribbean and Spain.”[1]

By Garth Franklin Thursday August 27th 2009 04:58AM piratel_article.jpg?1251367796Steven Spielberg1606_magglass.gif is set to develop a film based on the late Michael Crichton's posthumously published novel "Pirate Latitudes" reports USA Today.

Set for release in bookstores around Thanksgiving, the adventure yarn is set off the coast of Jamaica in 1665.

The story involves a daring plan to infiltrate Port Royal, one of the world's richest and most notorious cities, and raid a Spanish galleon filled with treasure.

Screenwriter David Koepp, who adapted Crichton's novels for Jurassic Park and its sequel "The Lost World1606_magglass.gif," also has signed on to write the script.

Spielberg plans to produce and is considering directing, but will wait on Koepp's script before making any decision.

The early 1970's and mid-late 1990's saw a wave of Crichton books becoming films as "The Andromeda Strain1606_magglass.gif," "The Terminal Man," "Congo," "Rising Sun," "Sphere," "Disclosure" and "Timeline".

However various novels of the late author remain on the shelf despite previous attempts to adapt some of them including "Airframe," "Prey," "Next" and his controversial "State of Fear".

  9. Jamaica

I am very interested in that issue or if yall have just the plans those.

    Captain Robert Darksoul

You can find plans for making a leather baldric in the May 1999 issue of No Quarter Given. It's a special design that's comfortable and hangs attractively on the shoulder. It's available in the new NQG Collected Volume no. VI. It gives patterns for cutting the leather pieces, with instructions on how to put them together. I'm not a leatherworker - but I've been told ya only need basic leatherworking skills for this project.

    Blackheartedly yrs,
