  1. Bruckheimer Scales Down "Pirates 4" email to a friend By Garth Franklin Tuesday May 4th 2010 07:46AM Those "Pirates of the Caribbean" are taking a pay cut it would seem for their next outing reports The Los Angeles Times. Disney has apparently imposed a more constrained budget which "Bruckheimer is scrambling to meet" before filming begins on June 14th. The first film cost $140 million, the subsequent sequels escalated to a whopping $225 million and $300 million respectively. The new fourth entry will be cut back but still hover at around the $200 million mark. To achieve this the film's shoot is expect to run around three months instead of the nearly five months it took to film the last one, while visual effects shots will be cut from around 2,000 to 1,300. There'll also be more land-based filming. Bruckheimer says this approach has caused him to "make painful decisions that cut into some very entertaining sequences." [/url]SHARE: Previous

  11. Disney Wants You To Show 'Em Your Tits email to a friend By Garth Franklin Monday March 22nd 2010 11:20AM The other week a casting notice went out for a couple of crucial scenes on "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", the upcoming fourth film in Disney's mega-franchise. The notice required fit athletic women aged 18-30 with professional dancing, diving and swimming ability. One noted requirement though - "MUST have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants" according to the sheet. It's an effort to be historically accurate and actually quite commendable on the studio's part. Of course that didn't stop many on the Net having a field day with every breast-related pun you can think of. On the weekend however, a few new details emerged over at The Sunday Times about the sequences. Seems that casting agents say "the bouncier the better" when it comes to the female extras for the film, "especially for sword-fighting action sequences". As a result, quite soon there will be what The New York Post dubs "a Hollywood-style jiggle-your-jugs test and jog for judges" that will take place during the upcoming costuming and fitting sessions. Those which are found to be false are out, no exceptions. The project marks a rare reversal on this position for Hollywood. Even this franchise in the past sought women with a 'bustier' look for the various 'saucy wenches' that populated the background and had no issue with them having implants. Filming on the fourth 'Pirates' kicks off in Hawaii around June.
  12. Bruckheimer On Cruz's Role In Fourth "Pirates" email to a friend By Garth Franklin Sunday March 21st 2010 05:38AM Jerry Bruckheimer says that Penelope Cruz's role in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is as the daughter of the film's villain Blackbeard (Ian McShane). Appearing at ShoWest, Bruckheimer tells MTV News that "she brings a lot of humor to it. And the fact that she's so feisty." He also confirmed that there will be "a little romance between [Depp's] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays." Though Geoffrey Rush will be back as Barbossa as well, Bruckheimer says the story is "going to take a whole new direction" and they're "looking for some new kids to be in it" in supporting roles which are being tested right now. Filming on the next 'Pirates' film kicks off in June under the helm of Rob Marshall.

  14. Pirates of the Caribbean 4: No breast implants allowed! When Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hits the screen, we'll be seeing sword fighting, swashbuckling and plenty of Johnny Depp. But one thing filmmakers want to make sure we won't be seeing? Breast implants. <A href="http://www.moviehole.net/201024092-exclusive-pirates-of-the-caribbean-casting-call">Moviehole has gotten its hands on the breakdown given to casting agents for the fourth film in the franchise, and one thing that description is quite clear about—natural breasts wanted. Here's the attributes they're hoping to find in the extras for a few key scenes: Beautiful Female Fit Models. Must be 5'7-5'8, Size 4 or 6 - NO BIGGER OR SMALLER. Age 18-25. Must have a lean dancer body. MUST have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants. This is a show and tell of costumes with the director and the producers. Plan on an entire day of trying on clothes and being photographed. Professional Dancers who are Swimmers. Females ONLY. Age 18-30. All ethnicities. YOU MUST have an extensive dance/swimming resume. We will be shooting in Hawaii. Principal photography on the film, directed by Rob Marshall (Nine) and starring Johnny Depp, Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz, is supposed to begin in May or June, so casting agents—get to work! 18. STOLEN FROM DARKHORIZONS.COM McShane Is Blackbeard In Fourth "Pirates" email to a friend By Garth Franklin Tuesday February 23rd 2010 12:11AM Some casting news makes one jump for joy, this is one of those stories. Acting legend Ian McShane ("Deadwood," "44 Inch Chest") is in negotiations to play Blackbeard, the main villain of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", the upcoming fourth film in Disney's biggest live-action franchise says The Hollywood Reporter. Born Edward Teach, the notorious English pirate Blackbeard captained the Queen Anne's Revenge and operated around the West Indies in the early 1700's. Unlike some of his more bloodthirsty brethren, Teach was a smart businessman who used his fearsome image and reputation rather than force to get what he desired. As previously reported, Johnny Depp will reprise his role of Captain Jack Sparrow in a story that revolves around the Fountain of Youth. Penelope Cruz was recently cast as the character's "foil and equal". Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot penned the script with Rob Marshall directing and Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The film opens next May.

Much like the recent "Sherlock Holmes", the project will update the 19th century tale with a 'hipper' contemporary sensibility and a stronger focus on the relationship between Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins Douglas Rae and Robert Bernstein will produce while Niall Johnson ("Callas") is penning the script.
