Hand-woven webbing/ hand-stiched leather tumplines for your bedroll or snapsack... or for carrying about anything else you can tie on. 2" wide x 36" (woven part) 85% wool/blend. You finish the ties to suit your likes, there is a cedar dowel sewn into the end to prevent leather from tearing. $35 each. Iwill finish tie ends to your specs for cost of materials. PM me for details if intrested. Other woven products available soon... 3" sashes 9'6" to 13'9". Becky's Loom has been doing this for over twelve years and the quality is outstanding.

Here ya go- 1730 Scottish Smallsword, scabbard, and hand-made Baldric. I gave $235 plus shipping for the sword & scabbard only. I made the Baldric form hand-woven webbing from Becky's Loom,(Inkle weaving), and black leather. this is the "real-deal", not a denix blade. Fully functional and very well balanced. I want a Schiavona, so I'm letting this one go for $225, and I pay shipping. PM me if intrested.

The UPS man came yesterday and brought me a coupla things I ordered from Amazon.com, a rapier and a frog. The rapier is very fine-looking but the frog is something of a disappointment. The description for the frog says it has "rivets and snaps", which implies adjustability. There are no snaps, however, and when the rapier's scabbard is placed in the frog (as demonstrated in the picture), it's a very loose slip-fit that simply is not secure. Is there something I'm missing here (a user's manual, perhaps)? Suggestions as to how to successfully mate the frog and scabbard will be quite welcome. ~~Captain Bob

Heres a nice upper end outfit I just traded for... Coat is sold! The weskit is a brocade that looks like Gramma's dining room chairs, and is lined in a wine colored faux satin like material. The shirt is hand laced and closes by hook and latch at throat, button links at cuffs, and has a cravat too. I want to go with seamans clothing for my son and myself, so am selling this rig to offset costs. $55 and I pay shipping. Prefer to sell together, but might consider seperating. PM me for details if intrested.(sz. 38-40 )

Greetings All, For Sale is a 16-foot x 23-foot Montana Canvas brand reenactment tent (www.montanacanvas.com). It is constructed of 10 oz water treated canvas with hardened aluminum tubular framework (approx 2-3" diameter). The tent weighs approximately 117 lbs. It is 16 months old, used once at the Ingleside ren faire. Everything is complete (includes rain fly, flooring and tie-out ropes) and included are the instructional tape, patch kit, carrying bags, etc. I've kept the tent stored in my troop’s cargo trailer since acquiring it from the factory. Nothing is wrong with the tent, it was purchased when the performance troop was bigger and it is now too big for …

I don't want this to be thought of as cross posting, but I know that a lot of the folks that check into the pub go here and twill and nothing else. I tried to have a signature graphic contest a while back, but it suffered a crib death due to a technical glitch. I am running it again and you can find out more if you look for the thread in Rabble Rousing. I have contacted several companies that sell 17th-18th century stuff for prizes... gift certificates and what not. Plus t-shirts and things from my own collection. The prizes are the plunder here.... Anyway, check it out and participate as there should be some cool stuff! GoF

First let me say, I've known Gail Selinger many years. She was contacted by the people who do those 'Guides for Idiots' books. The book is a bit of a piece-tied grouping of all sorts of things including tidbits in little boxes on the sides about things. They go by the names, like Pirate Yarns, Knowing the Ropes, Dead Men's Tales, and Treasure Chest. Each contains little bits of real information that is commonly overlooked. It's a good all around book, but not one for really going into deep detail about things or people. However there are some real gems there, especially in the begining about early piracy in the early days of human life of the Celts, the Romans, Greeks, …

Hey mates -- Long time no post, and all that *guilty grin* ... but now I come with a burning question ... Okay. For some weeks now, I have been saving my pennies for a Jack Sparrow replica ring. I at long last have the pennies, but it's now also left me with a quandary -- silver replica, or pewter? Does anyone know what the DIFFERENCE is?? I can't find a comparison online _any_where ... specifically, what I'm wondering is, between a pewter ring and a silver one, which one will last longer? I am willing to dish out a fair amount of money for this thing, but as a result of that, I want it to _last_ -- to be able to stand a little wear and tear. I mean, I'm not plann…

I've pretty much chosen to buy a Queen Anne kit. Colonial Gun Works sells the Pedersoli Queen Anne kit at the lowest price I've seen ($200). So... - Anyone ever bought anything from Colonial Gun Works and how was the experience? - I've read reviews of the Pedersoli kit and more than one person has snapped off part of the trigger guard while trying to bend it to fit the stock. Anyone built the Pedersoli kit and Not had a problem with this, or have a suggestion about how to make the metal more pliable prior to bending? TIA!

I decided to postpone buying a replica pistol until Denix starts making them again. Everybody seems to be out of stock except Ebay, so prices are only gonna climb until some of the backlog orders can be met. Besides my WebTV has problems working with Ebay (very slow loading, amongst other quibbles) and I don't know which vendors I can trust. In the meantime, I did find a temporary substitute at Paul Bunyan's, even though it's not quite historically accurate. I ordered their Double-Barrelled Cap Pistol. This one is pretty big (about 12" from butt to muzzle), and kind of interesting from a mechanical standpoint. You have to cock the left hammer before the right hammer will…

Stumbled upon a copy of "Expedition Whydah" by Barry Clifford whilst browsing the local library sailing section. A most EXCELLENT read! I have to admit I was prepared to wade through a lot of technical 'winchin' up the cannons' stuff but, the blend of old pirate history.....the love story of Sam Bellamy and Maria......along with the social commentary and actual hunt for the treasure combined with Clifford's passion made this impossible to put down! I can not wait to find the time to visit the Cape Cod museum holding the artifacts! Just thought I'd share...... Fair Winds ~Foxmorton

I've been browsing for about 6 hours now with no luck but I stumbled across this site through google. I'm just hoping someone here can help me since I'm literally about to tear my hair our after searching for so long. I'm currently making a EXACT replica costume of the good old Captain Jack Sparrow. I've been ordering parts and going fabric shopping tomorow but I can't find these buttons anywhere! I've found the silversmith buttons for the vest but for the actual coat is near impossible..I was hoping someone here knows a site or something similar I can get. Here's a few images of the real costume buttons. http://img103.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=l...74_bla005wa.jpg htt…

I write under an alias as I am, like you, wanted in most of the Seven Seas. My new maritime novel, Gus Openshaw's Whale-Killing Journal comes out Friday, published by Macadam/Cage. For all sorts of book info and whaling news posted as soon as it comes in (or we post it), drop anchor the website, blubberybastard.com Here are a couple early reviews: From bilgemunky.com: "If you read only one happy-go-lucky account of whale slaughter this year... Gus Openshaw is just your average joe, seeking to make a life with his wife and new son. When his plans are thwarted by an angry whale (who swallows his family whole, along with Gus's right arm), Gus must find a wa…

I ran into a guy who wearing the infamous "puffy" shirt as featured on the Seinfeld TV series. He was really surprised that I wanted to know where he got it, as exactly ZERO men ask him where he got the shirt. Anyway, it is available from International Male, and is called the Ultimate Poets Shirt-- priced at $69.99. Makes a great pirate shirt (which was the running gag of that TV episode), but purests beware: it is a historically non-authentic acetate/rayon blend. Incidentally, if you purchase the newest Seinfeld boxed DVD set, it comes with a miniature puffy shirt. It would only fit an eight-inch-tall pirate, however. Also on the International Male website is the S…
