Some events don't allow for open fires or even lit candle lanterns due to fire dangers or rules. So what can you do and still be able to use those fine lanterns we like to have for camps. I found something pretty nifty, so I thought I'd pass this on. Go to: Harriet Carter That's really enexpensive and I definately plan on getting some for my own lanterns.

With the recent thread about building your own pirate ship, I've been doing some serious research on doing a working, scaled-down version of a Galleon. Well, I found one that has been done. The Time Bandit, named as susch because it was featured in the movie Time Bandits, was built by a father and son in California. It's a working 1/3 scale (43 foot) replica of a Spanish Galleon, now in service as a tour boat on Big Bear Lake in California. http://www.800bigbear.com/timebandit.html This the only web address I found on it. It's supposed to have a website but the link I found was no good. Anyone know any details about this boat or her builders? I'd sure like to see the…

Up for your consideration is this fine sleeved weskit in a very colorful paisley block print. The pictures just don't show how really colorful this weskit is! Sure to turn heads at your next event or raid! This is made of a heavy cotton and has been worn once. It is a size 40 chest. Every bit of visible stitching is done by hand giving this a VERY authentic look. The buttons are of wood and accent the garment nicely. It is fully lined with white cotton. It is meant to be worn under a frock coat, but for the sailor of fortune, could be worn open or buttoned as a short jacket. on the average person, the coat will come to mid-thigh length. The white ruffled linen shirt is…

For those who have Pedrsoli Queen Anne pistols, what size balls do you shoot? I know it's a '.50 caliber' pistol, but would that mean a .490 or .495 ball or something else? TIA.

I've decided that I want to buy an actual Queen Anne flintlock, but am undecided as to whether I should get it outright, or buy a kit and put it together myself. I own dozens of bladed weapons, but not a single firearm, so I've no idea what the pros and cons would be.

I must admit I was inspired by the EITC as seen in POTC2. Got enough fabric to make more, just a little unsure of the length. Should it be longer?

Did a search, but I didn't see anything come up. I know shackles be the bane of a pyrate's existence, but I want 'em for me costume. Anyone know a site online that makes period-style chains n' shackles, particularly for the wrists? Anything to point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, me fellow rogues!

Im just really starting to get into reenacting for pyracy. I use to do civil war but I was not an officer so I didn't get to use a sword/cutlass. Now my question is, what do you use to attach the cutlass and flintlock pistol to your person. I understand that the cutlass goes in a sheath but what does that attach to. As for pistols I'm lost all together, are their holsters? What else can you put on your person? I've been told everything from feathers, cups for drinking, cumpasses, bags for whatever. What else? Thanks for the help *hands you a mug of rum*

Hi all, To those of you who bought the first of Reconstructing History's Breeches and Slops pattern (RH706), we just found a small error we want you to know about. The sizes on the back of the pattern read: size 30 32 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 waist 30 32 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 This are NOT correct. The sizes should be: size 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 52 54 waist 30 32 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 So if your waist measures 36", cut a waistband size 40, not 36. Size 36 will be too small for you. In stock patterns are now marked correctly. Kass

Museum Replicas Ltd. ( www.museumreplicas.com) have added two new cutlasses to their lineup of pirate goods. The one called the "Scottish Cutlass" is especially handsome, with a basket-and-quillons hilt. It looks like a simplified version of the Sinclair Saber they offered a few years back. Give 'em a look. Prime plunder!

Well those of you who lived through last year's hurricane season will know what I'm talking about. We live on the Delaware River and last week it surprised us by flooding for the third time in 18 months. It's getting quite ridiculous. Just when people rebuild, the river comes and takes it all away again. Luckily we are just enough uphill for the flood waters not to damage us. However, it did damage the roads around here. We didn't have a UPS pickup for three days. And getting out to a UPS drop box was just impossible. So if you preordered the Sailor's Jacket, Breeches and Slops or Waistcoats, I hope you will forgive them being late. I just can't control the force…

I did a Google search and didn't come up with much. I need sources for a boarding axe, preferably one with a spike. I also would like to have a leather sheath since I'll be wearing it on my belt and don't want to be slicing my arms up when I'm walking. Thanks for your help.

I have a nice pirate shirt, but it looks too clean. I'd like it to have a brown/tan color to it.. Without having to kick it around in the dirt. I've heard that soaking it in some water with tea bags could give it a nice tint. Any thoughts? Thanks mates.
