Various tidbits of information have been brought up in several different threads but I'll be darned if I can find anything. So here is our place to discuss meals, cooking and all things related to campfire needs. First and foremost is the need for fire. As stated in the Poop Deck, https://pyracy.com/index.php?showtopic=15863&st=0 "4- Fires and Braziers- There are only going to be 5 total fires allowed. This is the same number it has always been. We may have as many braziers as we want, and can use the ones that are in the encampment as well. We are trying to set the encampment up so that access to a fire will be easy. The fires are: 1-Fort, 2-Mercury/Hide, 3-BIB, 4…

Hi all! My friend and I are attending PiP for the first time this year. Below are two pics, the first a terrible one of me in my garb (still working on the bottom half), and the other a monmouth cap that his mother made for me. I've been looking at tons of threads and pics over the last month or so, and have tried to gather things from thrift stores and alter them to make them my own (using as much linen as possible). :) I'm still working on things from the waist down, but I think the top 1/2 is pretty much finished. Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could do to make it better? Also, my friend and I were really wanting to camp on the beach for a night or two.…

OK... I have my tickets...(well they are those electronic no paper things...) I leave outta San Fransisco Tuesday night at 11:30 and arrive in Key West Wednesday at 10:26.... So far no problem... But I leave Key West Tuesday Dec. 8th. at 3:20.......... So I will need someplace to crash Monday night...... (I don't know what my finances will be, I don't think I will be able to afford a hotel in Key West for the night...) So does anyone in Key West or really close... have a couch, backyard, front porch... available Monday Night for a slightly stinky Buccaneer?

It will also act as a list for everyone who wants to join the camp... Members Camping in the Buccaneer Camp at PiP 2009 Patrick Hand Animal

As you know, The Catt & Fiddle is moving beachside. And in the spirit of the move there, we are working on this year's period drinks. As you know, we make powerful good toddies - but to expedite and enhance your experiences this year, we have found a great new period device to use. Check it out! As captain I have declared it period, right up there with Snickers. Ask Mickey and Kate about that fascinating history... http://www.margaritavillecargo.com/Product.aspx?pid=6791 -- Hurricane

Ahoy folks... we will be needing tent footprints for setting up at PiP this year due to the number of folks attending. IF you are a member of a crew, such as The Archangel or The Mercury, you will need to get these measurements to those in charge of your group. We need to make sure that everyone coming will have a space allotted to them for the event. The measurements or the space needed to contain a certain crew will be forwarded to the event organizers in order to coordinate the space. You may arrange your tents as you please within the space given to you. So start measuring! Thank ye! This weekend, folks should be measuring off the areas on the beaches and more inf…

Ahoy, Mates, I just thought I'd let you know that I'm planning on attending again. If there's anything in particular you are looking for, let me know. Also, if there's anything you want from Smoke & Fire, I can get that! That's enough of the shameless self promotion! I'm looking forward to seeing you all again! Just Greg

As Spike and Fayma have stated in the following threads, we have been asked to help perform several tasks for the encampment. Below is a listing with the tasks that are being required of us. You are welcome and encouraged to select a time slot early. This duty roster will also be available at check in. A final roster will be posted in the hide. When choosing your time slot, please list your name and crew. For example: Lily Alexander/Archangel Gate Duty 2300-0100. Please do not pm or email me your requests for time slots. I empty my mailboxs regularly and would prefer to keep a record of volunteers in one place. https://pyracy.com/index.php?showtopic=15492&st=…

Ahoy All, I have now had the pleasure of meeting with both the Friends of Fort Taylor and David Foster (the new park manager) concerning the Fort Taylor Pirate Fest. With the retirement of our dear friend Harry Smid, things will of course be different, but many things will not change in the way the Festival has always been run. I know that this email is going to generate a lot of questions. I will answer the best to my ability and hope I am able to provide an adequate answer for all of you. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impression on David Foster and we must all understand that it is a privilege for us to have this event at Fort Zachary Taylor State…

Okay...PIP is but a month away. This is the time (not a month from now) to begin training yourself to be on your feet for hours at a time in all kinds of weather. Anyone who has been to PIP will tell you that the time you spend up and about at PIP will wear you out and do the most unpleasant things to your feet, so start walking. Walk a half mile at least every day for this next week. Then walk a mile every day for the week after. By the time PIP rolls around you want to be walking two miles a day at the very least. This conditioning can be the difference between enjoying PIP and sitting about aching far more than necessary. Besides, who doesn't want to be health…

Now that the East Coast Reenactorfest has been cancelled, I'm considering bringing the store to PiP. But I have a question. Are there period merchants in the fort with the period camps? We do a period store, only period merchandise in a period pavillion. Obviously, we are geared to selling to the reenactor, not the public. Is this sort of thing worth considering, or should I scrap the idea now? Hawkyns

I recall there being a thread last year - attached to Silkie's hide I believe - where we could all post about what extras we could bring to help out. I looked, but didn't see the same for this year, so I figured I would make one as a catch all for people to post about items needed or that could be provided to help out with the encampment. As I did last year, I can provide the large cooler/truck for ice as well as the wooden trash bin for the tables. I can also possibly provide an assortment of baskets - willow branch and hand woven - if I can pry them away form my mother's protective gaze. Beyond that, I leaned how to roll charges at the Santa Maria event and can help …

Some of you may recall the story of the baby lion stuffed animal I had as a child from the PiP '08 Surgeon's Journal. I told this story to Grace Thatcher (who was 8 at PiP) and she was very concerned that I had lost my favorite stuffed animal. So she did something about it. This last Easter Egg page is especially for her. Be forewarned that it is not like the other pages because I wrote especially for her. I hope she can read it or Silas and Constance can read it to her. Perhaps she will learn a little bit about Mexico through Baby Lion's adventures. You will find it here: Baby Lion Surgeon's Journal Extra Page If you don't remember the whole story, you can go back an…

I thought that instead of things getting buried in the other thread where some might not see it, I'd start a new one. Who would need some cedar poles, how many and how tall? Instead of me sending alot of random ones that may or may not work, it would be best to have some descriptions from those in need. Also, befroe it gets too far we need to know two things: 1) Are there any restrictions on Aromatic Cedar being transported into any states along the way? (shouldn't be as this is the same bug-proof stuff they make cedar chests and sell shredded in bags for hampster cages and such) 2) Who is up for the relay part of this proposal? I will start it as far east as is pr…
