As noted in the "Ren-faire Vs. Re-enactment" thread, the idea of an adult-oriented, neither exclusively fantastic or exclusively historical and pirate-specific organization tailored to the expectations of the members of this site has been suggested, and seemed to garner at least some small element of support. The name "The Society for the Unwanted" has been suggested. I think it's grand name. So, I guess this is a thread were we can see who's interested, what we expect, how to organize and then see if the dang thing will even work.

A pirate captain was on the look out for buried treasure. After months of hard sailing, his ship caught site of land, the land to which his treasure map had been leading. Fer the past couple o' months that I've been here... I learned a couple of 5 billion things. Maybe this should be on Pirate Pop, but what little I know about this crew seems to point to the conclusion that pyracy begets art, or vica-versa. So far, I've heard of several fine artists, cartoonists, actors, dancers, singers, punsters, writers, musicians, film industry types, arts & craft folks, etc. bein' on this site. And what I know of the original pyrates, seems to me there was alot of creativity there, and at least above average intelligence as well. Do you think there's a corellation? Pleasantevening to all of ye here.... Fair Katey and I have settled on the new house and are getting ready to actually move in. We are planning a pirate party/ house warming after we get settled in. I've been contacted via email by a leader from a Cub Scout pack in Buffalo NY who'd like a pirate (or small group of pirates) to give a talk to the cubs and their families. I'm getting more details as to the specifics, but I'd expect anyone with a decent costume and the ability to share a little pirate lore would be most welcome. Any of you from that area?
