Hello everyone... Just wondering... Has anyone heard from or seen Captain Midnight lately? He hasn't posted here or elsewhere for the better part of a year. Seems to have dropped off the planet... I've had no luck PM-ing him from any of the usual boards. Anyone got a phone number or anything for him?

I bid thee good day My name is Jen (lady Jen in our Pirates of Reno group) and I am new here. I be a novice on this fine sea vessel. My husband, Master Redbeard, started posting here I figured I should as well. Right now we are self publishing my first pirate, young adult, fantasy novel Hoist the Colors. I use the term "fantasy" because there are aspects that veer from fictional pirates. The era was too brutal for any story plot in the YA world. Apparently, agents feel pirates are no longer popular for a literary genre. Filthy land lubbers, what do they know? I look forward to getting to know this fabulous community better :)

Hi all, Just thought i'd be polite and introduce myself. I started Pirate re-enactment about a year ago with a couple of groups here in England and am having fun. I try to make a lot of my own equipment, so may be requesting advice as well as sharing any short cuts i come across. I have just made a felt tricorn (plain for me) and will be making a more ornate one for the Contessa (girlfriend). Will post piccies when i'm done.

So, what be the criteria fer decidin' what yer crew status is? I am a newbie on this island, and that no doubt qualifies me as lowlife . An that be right an' proper. (The very fact that I have to ASK this question no doubt confirms my bilge-rattiness indeed!). What leads me tae ask, is that I see in some cases, folks who been h'yar fer YEARS, an' are still squeakin' in ratliness. So, is it number o' posts? Known pirate accomplishments? A vote by committee? Badgers EAT rats, an' I'm lookin' tae know that my time as one will someday end. Otherwise, someone is gettin' keelhauled!

The Associated Press BEAUFORT, N.C. -- An anchor from a shipwreck thought to be Blackbeard's flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, was so unstable that divers in North Carolina retrieved it Wednesday rather than waiting until next year. Divers raised the 4.5-foot, 160-pound grapnel, or anchor, from the wreck in the Atlantic Ocean near Beaufort on Wednesday and will display it Thursday at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort. The anchor originally had four prongs, but now has 1 1/2. Two divers put straps on the anchor, then small lift bags that they filled with air, said Mark Wilde-Ramsing, the director of the Queen Anne's Revenge shipwreck project. When the gra…

Well with the final day of the Connecticut Renaissance Faire, The Brigands performance season ends for 2009. We have had one hell of a season this year, and we want to thank so many people for coming out and supporting us, and for spreading the 'word' about The Brigands. We have picked up some new faires and festivals this year and just enjoyed the hell out of the ones we already were performing at. Next year will be our 9th year bringing our combination of period music, famous pirate 'movie' music, traditional fiddle tunes and a faire number of original music and songs to faire and festival goers. We hope to continue that for many years to come. So thanks go to: A…

Hi there, I am a new member from Bristol, England (the birthplace of Blackbeard and inspiration for Treasure Island) and this is my first post. I hope I am not breaking any chat etiquette by asking this favour... I really need people with Facebook accounts to join my group called "We want a Long John Silver statue with a Treasure Island Trail in Bristol". http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=264802695385 Basically, I have set the group up on behalf of a charity (The Long John Silver Trust) in order to visually demonstrate there is public demand to get a statue. Unfortunately, the City Council are 'lukewarm' about the idea, giving excuses such as …

Sorry if this was already posted somewhere else or this is the wrong place for this... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/africa/article6864367.ece Pirates choose wrong target - a French warship - Times Online In the darkness of the Indian Ocean, a bulky French refuelling vessel looked like easy pickings for two boatloads of Somali pirates as they drew alongside early yesterday. The brigands had started their usual pre-boarding drill, letting loose with Kalashnikov assault rifles, before they noticed the 40mm cannon and missiles on the deck above them. The fat merchant ship was, in fact, La Somme, the 18,000-tonne flagship of the French naval operatio…
