Just a quick update on Poppa... He has made it through his surgery, and is resting comfortably. Looks like at least a week in the hospital. Stay tuned for further updates, but for now he is stable and reasonably comfortable. Many thanks for the outpouring of love from our pyrate family. Love to all, Momma

::: dusts self off; removes seaweed; coughs::: Well, pubmates. I have finally returned. Though I have hovered upon a couple other computers, their firewalls never allowed me to visit here. So entirely sad. MANY sites I frequented that I was not allowed to go to. One can only handle so much of Facebook, checking email, and the occasional Deviantart. IF allowed. Often not allowed. Nor not the time. So, now m' computer has returned to me. I'm at full swing now, back up and running and able to visit the Pub once again! Huzzah! I swears... I need to take cannons to computer Viruses! Th' bloody this was a VERY nasty one. Wiped it out, only able to save a few things. But n…

Greetings to all ye bandits, brigands, buccaneers, and pirates says I... ok, so I'm a day late and piece of eight short for talk like a pirate day, but that's alright. I stumbled in here last night and after looking around a bit I think this place will help me with some attire I've been thinking of working on and keeping it historical ta boot... I've been a pirate at heart since forever. I have a fondness for swords of all types, but the pirates cutlass is my favorite. I also find black powder weapons fascinating and own a kentucky pistol... so yeah, pirates, arrgh!... Hail and Skal and sloshes my drink around... McKegg the Freebooter

(THUMP!) Well, that'll teach me to keep me feet on the footrope and stop skylarkin' about in the tops! I was aboard here about six years ago but lost the url in a crash (well, it sounds as good as aught else then!) and just now ran across a post by Mr. Cyphers on the serving mallet which brought me back here, so ye can blame HIM for the ripped mainsail! (I'll fix it next watch, Cap.n.) Nice series of posts on the subject by the way! Now, you'll pardon me while I go below and sling a hammock and see what the Grub Killer has for us to die from tonite.

In the past we've waited until November to get the gift exchange rolling. In the past this time frame has often been too short to properly keep overseas folks in the time frame of the Holiday Season. So, I'm doing a little survey to gauge the Pub's interest in participating in a Gift Exchange again this year. If there is enough interest, I'll start putting together the information and we'll get things rolling a bit earlier this year.

Time to buy me plane tickets. Last year I arrived on a Tuesday but can't remember what day I flew out on .. it was the day everyone was leaving, which I figure must have been on the following Monday, no? Sunday must have activities? Is there a list of who is going yet?

I'm new to the site , but old to the love! Everyone here seems like a fine sailor , I only hope to make a decent hand. There are so many questions I have , and so very many have already been answered. Thank you for putting together a wonderful and informative site!

its been a few years since I first set foot in this harbor, but I made some grand and scurvy friends here, whilst walking the planks. You helped introduce me to pyracy, pirate crews, and I am sure there are some who rue the day!! but that is another story.. heres to another couple decades at the helm.. cheers!

Mates, I wanna take a brief moment or so to tell ye about the Third Annual PirateCon NYC. For ye swabbies what not be knowin', PirateCon takes its basic premise from SantaCon, 'ceptin' that, 'stead o' ye dressin' as Kris Kringle, ye dress up as pirates! (Well, duh!) Ye need but secure yerself a sensible Pirate outfit (and the shirt, pants and boots) to get in on all th' doin's; fortunately, me adventure began with me almost makin' the wrong guess (as usual), and thinkin' --- illogically, o' course! --- that ye olde South Street Seaport would be the place where I'd find me fellow Brethren an' Sisters o' th' Coast. Wrong again, Panavision-fer-brains (that be what I often c…

This is my way to thank you all for your friendship - I think it is about one year, if not more, since I am here and I have learnt a lot of things from you. I have contributed too little, but I have read a lot, you have been here to answer my questions... and yes, of course I'm staying, this is NOT a good bye, only... another honest question, which I hope I am allowed to ask. And if it is longer, like everything I am writing... please, bear with me. You might again know something I don't, your answers have always been helpful. Besides learning lots of things about the period and setting my Age of Sail RPGs are in, because I like having my stories as period correctly as p…

Just found this harbor, and think I'll drop anchor. I be a newbie pirate, still workin' on me first outfit. I've learned a lot about my mistakes here already, thanks. My wife and I live in the Lake Charles area, they have a "Contraband Days" fest (a celebration for Jean Lafite) every year and from what I've seen so far not a lot of pirates. I've just made contact with the local crew (or krewe) called the Buccaneers but they have a narrow membership window an' ye have to be sponsored by a member. I've only briefly met one member. Maybe in a year or two.... We started going to the Texas Ren Faire and fell in love with it, when asked what to dress up as, I only ha…

Ahoy, ya blarsted Byg Appyl bilgies! Won't ye cellybrate Talk Like a Pirate Day wi' yer 'umble Hawk?
