  7. Ahoy Dorian! Ye be correct there be a VA Air and Space Musem in Hampton. In fact Hampton Virginia be the home of Blackbeards Crew. Lt. Maynard was dispatched by Governor Spotswood of VA to capture our Edward Thatch hisself from Hampton. Now the VA Air and Space Museum be a fine establishment but you will be in the Home of the Hampton Blackbeard Festival, visit our forum under pirate crews. My recommendation would be to go to the Mariners Museum. One of my favorite nautical resources. The other thing I would suggest you do is walk directly across the waterfront past the Radisson Hotel to the Hampton Public Piers office and introduce yourself to Mr Billy Flynt Master Gunner of Blackbeards Crew. He can give ye directions to "Marker 20" our favorite pub. If we have a raid going on around that time you will be able to find out about it in the Forums. Tell Billy Flynt Cap'n Pern sent you. I just remembered we will be out of town on Sept.19th.

  14. There were a number of pirates that sailed those waters. Billy Bowlegs (Captain Bowles) and I believe John Lefitte. It has been quite a while since I sailed in those waters but there is an old fort out on the Island that you may still be able to visit. It was modified during WWII so you have to look to see the original architecture. Hope this helps Cap'n Pern
  15. I hear good pirate parties last a week!!! Happy berfday to ye mate!!!!
  16. I can speak towards Blackbeard's Crew Culture. We run our organization much the way the pirates would have in days of old. There is no Pres, VP, Secretary, etc. We do have a QuarterMaster who leads our meetings and organizes the teams for which ever raid we be makin'. We have a ship's pursor, a scribe and a few other positions that would have been pertinent 286 years ago. Anything the crew does pretty much gets voted on as a crew and majority wins. When it comes to an event the Quartermaster has his name on the line and we as a crew respect that. All the rum bottles that we carry as cargo are locked in sea chests fer shippin' purposes. We focus most of our energies on reeneactment of the Golden Age of Piracy. But also do some small local raids for the free ale. In Hampton Virginia . Lt. MAynard was dispatched to capture Edward Teach in Ocracoke. So this gives us some historical license as well as responsibility.
  17. From whence in VA do ye come from mate? Ye've not got much information about y'self in your profile.
  18. Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament The following pirates were seen raiding the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament: http://www.kingfishtournament.com/pirates.htm Cap'n Pern, Mr Steele Mr Glass Witnesses reported that several acts of piracy occured. Four young children were pressed into service as new crew members. The Weighmaster was captured and forced to walk the plank The Chairman was captured and tied to the mast and beaten with belaying pins as the crowd looked on. A local Anchor woman was captured, strung up from a yardarm ( and seemed to enjoy it a bit much A pirate battle ensued as Glass and Steele fought over a beautiful maiden who captured their hearts but didn't want to play with pirates See more here http://firstcoastphotos.com/main/viewalbum.php
  19. Blackbeards Crew has placed Bath on their Schedule for 2005. I am glad to know of the September dates. We have actually started planning a retracing of the course of Lt Maynard for 2005 from Hampton, VA aboard two sloops bound for Ocracoke and then to Bath the timing may be perfect. Cap'n Pern

  22. Black John Dat be good news, Lad!!!! I was tinkin I'd have to miss da cruise cuz I thought it was July 23rd an I"ll be in Jacksonville. But I might be makin it if'n it were in October. Cap'n Pern
  23. An added note being another shellback. You can't avoid the hazing it merely takes on a differen perspective such as being a mermaid in King Neptunes court. I have first hand knowledge unfortunately...
  24. There also be a cruise aboard the Kalmar Nyckel the next day in Alexandria!!!
  25. Tis me understandin' that there will be a 3 hour pirate cruise aboard the Kalmar Nyckel leaving from Alexandria, VA on July 23rd. Pirates only! I'll not be able to make it as I be raiding the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament on the 23rd. The cost, says you? A modest $60 says I! If you are interested, please email jbmacek@yahoo.com Btw, space is limited to 49 people. So first come, first served as it were. Me hopes ye all can make it and have a good time. Cap'n Pern
