Hester Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Instead, this time I bought Captain Morgan Deluxe dark rum. It's in a textured, old-fashioned looking bottle -- but I miss the cartoon Cap'n. 'S very tasty -- specially with lots of those tiny key limes, a bit of Coke, tons of ice in a very tall glass, and one of those umbrella straws. Yup!
Red Cat Jenny Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Aye Morgan an Cole tastes like cream soda..interesting..but tasty Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... CaptainSatan Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I have no favorite brand. All are welcome with me! Aye, I'm a bit of a Rum-Slut myself. But still, some rhums are more welcome than others :) As we say in Ireland let's drink until the alcohol in our system destroys our liver and kills us.

Capt. Lazarus Gage Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I just recently purchased a bottle of Gosling's Family Reserve, being a fan of the regular Gosling's Black Seal, the Family Reserve was quite good.
Maggie Crowe Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Since me last post on this here thread I been messin round with mixes of rums and the last faires results came back best yet so here goes.Four shots Spiced rum two shots tatoo two shots vanilla rum two shots Pyrat rum one shot kahlua and lastly 1/4 shot coconut rum I thinks it bestly tastes mixed in with root beer Me captain wants t'know if this be what you give to prisoners to make 'em talk? As to rum, we prefer 10Cane (aka iocane) in our house, but we're not the connoisseurs you all are. When it comes to 'straight up', we lean more towards tequila
depinux Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Ha ha, at work today I was talking with this guy that works for us to get us our food (I work in a kitchen) and he was telling us he made a rum and coke float, has anyone tried that? On another note, I have god awful Bacardi rum, I don't like to mix me rum, but I can't stand this stuff. Got any good 'recipes' to make it a bit more palatable? Kristofferus the Red Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I've been a fan of Captain Morgan's spiced for many years now, but I'd like to try a good Dark Rum (ideally sweet, strong and clean). I was considering Captain Morgan Tattoo. Suggestions?
Capt. Lazarus Gage Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 If you are looking for a Good Dark rum my suggestion would be Gosling's Black Seal. Fairly in-expensive and very good. If I drink Captain Morgan's I tend to buy the Private Stock, personally I think Tattoo is pig swill. That's just my opinion, but it is by no means a good dark rum.
BriarRose Kildare Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Mmm, I like Captain Morgan's with ginger ale. It is a crisp cool drink. My next favorite rum would be Parrot Bay, what can I say "yum". Red Cat Jenny Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 rum Hmm I want to try a new dark rum...off to Bilgemunky's site and all his fascinating descriptions.. Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. I'm a pirate, love. By nature and by choice! My inner voice sometimes has an accent! My wont? A delicious rip in time...
Capt. Bo of the WTF co. Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 OK; after thinking awile about the Bacardi thing, maybe it ain't such a wise idea to pour it down the drain. Who knows what may be lurking down there or what chemical re-action may occur. So, to better utilize an otherwise useless bottle of alchohol, I will offer two suggestions. 1; make some Hunch Punch, jungle juice, hanky panky, or whatever this may be called in your area of geography. (If you don't know what this is, you are probably under the age of ten! ) 2; Get a watermelon, cut a triangular plug in the side, and using a funnel, pour the contents of the bottle slowly onto the hole allowing the rum to soak in. replace the plug and secure it with toothpicks by inserting them at an angle so as to connect both pieces. Let this stand overnite, invite yer friends over and enjoy. Bo
Matusalem Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 1. El Dorado 15 yr Special Reserve (**special occasions) 2. Pusser's (47.5% alc, not the 42%)...fer getting down to business. 3. Flor De cana 7 yr (usual fave) 4. Applleton's Estate XV 5. Brugal (el cheapo favorite)
Red Cat Jenny Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Wow thanks guys.. Bo, Friends taught me to inject fruit with brandies and oranges with vodka. then chill and off the the beach, picnic or ball game...whoo! Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... Her reputation was her livelihood. I'm a pirate, love. By nature and by choice! My inner voice sometimes has an accent! My wont? Maggie Crowe Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I've become a big fan, lately, trying out the different rums on bilgemonkey's site. Can anyone tell me the difference, if there is any, between the Pyrat XO and Pyrat Pistol?
Capt. Bo of the WTF co. Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Does anyone have a good rum sauce recipe that might go well with venison? I love to try new stuff when cooking and we eat lots of venison here. It helps to keep us from "burning out" if I can offer the family a variety of tastes. Thanx! Bo
