Kaylee Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I don't suppose there was ever any kind of map given for Isla de Muerta? Or even a location for shooting those scenes that I could look up on Google Earth and extrapolate from there? I'm making a mess of maps for our Pirate Day party at work next week. So far I have a "it's better than a key, it's a picture of a key rag, a rockin NeverLand (book version, mostly) laid out and doing the tea soak now, and of course Treasure Island, but I'd like a map from "Curse of the Black Pearl." Any ideas? Sugguestions? Heck, screen captures? Unlike my NeverLand map, this one will be small enough (roughly 11x17 I think) that I'll be able to scan it for them which want a copy when it's done.. Thanks so much mates. -K (yes, I know that it ain't s'posed to be findable without the Cap'ns trusty compass. But I still think a map would be cool decor )
Cap'n Pete Straw Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I think the movie specifies at some point that the island cannot be found except by those who already know where it is. Or is that Isla de los Cruces? Yes, I know this is no help... I recommend you wing it, create something from scratch, and claim that it is authentic. When someone tries to prove you wrong, they will have to produce the "real" map, and then you will have it! "He's a Pirate dancer, He dances for money, Any old dollar will do... "He's a pirate dancer, His dances are funny... 'Cuz he's only got one shoe! Ahhrrr!"
Story Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Psst... I'll sell you a copy at a reasonable price, luv - meet me under the twin palms at midnight. Walk backwards, so ye can't be tracked. Or you can just use this for inspiration http://www.spiritbridge.com/images/atlantisk3.gif Map of Atlantis by the 17th-century German scholar Athanasius Kircher. Kircher based his map on Plato's description of Atlantis as an island west of the Pillars of Hercules - the Strait of Gibraltar - and situated Atlantis in the ocean that has since been named after the legendary land. Unlike modern cartographers, he placed south at the top of the map, which puts America at the right. Dances for nickels.
Tora of Tortuga Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Look closer at that image first off it is a negitive ie the words are in reverse. So if you looked at it from the front it would be correct other the Americas would be on the right hand side of the map and north still be at the bottom of the map. Just pointing it out.
Captain_Jack_Sparrow Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Said Island, the Isle de Muerte can on'y be found, by those who already know where it is... Now of course it be very hard t'show ye where they filmed it as most of the interior were on a stage at the Disney Studios in california, and the most complete bits were CGI... And I just did a Google Image search for ye...with no good results... the best ye might do is a pic o' a skull and ye use it as a reference and draw yer own, as the Island in th' movie was shaped like a skull
Kaylee Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 finally managed to um.... pirate .. a screen capture from the DVD. I'll be finishing a map in the next few weeks. :)

Cap'n Pete Straw Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 See? An image of the map can only be found by those who already know where to look for it.
