Jack Roberts Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 As the title says, what about a long whip? Similar to a mondern day bull whip. Would they have existed? I really haven't done any research, I'm on my way to google now, Thanks for any info.
Lady Seahawke Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 UTOH!!! here we go! won't repeat the reaction when I stated my persona has a whip...except to say the last I heard, pirates didn't have whips except cat of nines for punishment. Of course, my persona still has it, but am considered around here as being non-authentic because of it. Black Syren Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 I have been told mixed things over the whips as well as my charry has one as well. But I still use it and will continue to do so. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/Dara286/trident01-11.png If you got a dream chase it, cause a dream won't chase you back...(Cody Johnson Till you Can't)
Rabbitz Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Firstly, what use would a bull or stock whip be? Secondly, exactly where would you find enough room to swing six to 12 feet of leather on a rigged ship? I am just trying to understand the practicalities.... Rabz
kass Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 UTOH!!! here we go! won't repeat the reaction when I stated my persona has a whip... Rest assured that your moderators are awfully liberal-minded... If it's in Captain Twill, it just has to be about the history of the bullwhip and how it pertains to the GAoP. That's all. Jack Roberts Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 Precisly why I asked this in here. I was just wondering. And yes it doesn't make any sense aboard a ship. I was just wondering if there was a instance mentioned anywhere. Through some internet research, I found that the stye of a bullwhip was probably (i emphise probably) in use during the time, and then probably only by those needing to drive livestock. Although it seems that the for of a single tailed whip, in some form, has exsisted since the time of the egyptains. I just happen to have one around and thought it might be an interesting bit add to the kit. But like other have said, it really makes no sense for a pyrate to have one. Thanks for the replies.
