blackjohn
If all goes according to plan, sometime in August I'll be working as an assistant to an underwater archaeologist, entering data into the RUST (Resources and UnderSea Threats) database. The guy I'll be working with did his master's thesis on a magnetometer scan of Beaufort, looking for Blackbeard's other ship. Cool! So this will satisfy my curiousity... 6 months as an underwater archaeologist's database entry guy! My Home on the Web The Pirate Brethren Gallery Dreams are the glue that holds reality together. Themarko
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator. That's a nice fancy term for using a computer to make maps. So I do some Cartography, some data bashing, some teaching, some web design. On the side I design t-shirts, do some chinese brush painting and sculpt. The Doctor
Every time I tell people I work in the IT industry, they want free help wih their home PCs. So now, I tell everyone I'm a piano player in a whorehouse. The conversation moves right on to something else very quickly. Yo ho ho! Or does nobody actually say that? Red-Handed Jill
I did the IT thing for nineteen years; getting asked to fix stuff for free or give free diagnostic advice did get awfully old, but I discovered it was a useful skill to parlay into discounts on furniture, free chiropractic treatment, etc. I did it all: hardware tech, network engineer, applications developer, sys admin... I have a semi-technical job, kinda sorta. I am a financial planning software support specialist, but the job mainly involves teaching, tech writing and giving advice to financial advisors. jessie k.
I'm a full time college student, which is job enough, and I work in the library archives, which is a great job, except for the whole minimum wage thing. Yuck. This summer I'm hoping to get back into archaeology, because it pays so much better, and it's outdoors! Best job I've ever had. kass
When people find out that I sew for a living, they want me to fix thier seat cusions...... or him thier pants..... Ditto, Pat! I hate that! Well, I don't really sew for a living. I keep a colony of elves adequately fed and watered and they sew for my living. I just tell them what to do. I run an Evil Empire (I mean, own my own business). Started as a hobby, became part time, and this spring I had to quit my day job (as a graphic designer) just to keep up with it. Blackjohn, Huzzah! Congratulations!
