King's Pyrate Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 For the sake of keeping the topic of Piratical decor from falling off the edge of the flat earth.. Bump Here is my contribution to keeping this going.....although it is not completed here is a link to what I have done so far to create my outside Pirate area. We live next to a protected area so it is a never ending effort to keep the vines and brush cut back from taking over the yard....still we wanted a place to entertain our pirate friends......we still have much to do but the constant rain and humidity limit the time we can spend working on it. Will post more photos as we progress. Joe Pirate Shack...project in work

Add some more old-fashioned lanterns and take some pictures of it at night! It would look awesome. "But why is the rum gone!?"--Captain Jack Sparrow

Rumba Rue Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 With Christmas coming, buy some of those new LED flickering lights (we got some last year) and place them among your canopy top. Those won't get hot like the regular kind and are safer. That will give you the ambiance you are looking for especially in the summer evenings.
oderlesseye Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 Rumba..I will do just that...Also they now have these little battery powered candle lights I can use as well for the lanterns along the fence...When I get a chance and pay the wicked credit card down some, I will do this and post a few night tyme pics.. Rumba Rue Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I've been cruising Craig's List and have come across and old row boat someone wanted to give away free, an old ship's wheel for just a pittance of money. Take a look at their free stuff and other areas, there's some great deals to be had. (I know before we buy furniture and stuff for our new place, I'll be going through Craig's List a lot!)

I have the white tree lights under my canopy...they look great and give just the right ambiance like a dimly lit old pub......I could not stand the blinking one but these are perfect. All daytime shots and the project was temp. stopped by the last hurricane and a bad bout of poison ivy but I'll get back to it soon. Pirate Yard
