oderlesseye Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 "- How do your Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights compare to the ones I saw in the Disneyland 'Pirates of the Caribbean' attraction? That Disneyland attraction was first introduced in the Spring of 1967, before the high tech microprocessors we use in Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights were invented. It is our understanding that the Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean 'fireflies' are small incandescent lamps (similar to small household light bulbs) hanging on coiled wire with a black disk (appx 2" diameter) attached to the light. When the light, with attached disk, is blown around by centrifugal blowers sitting on the floor, the small light bulbs move in and out of the visitor's line-of-sight, creating an appearance of flashing on-and-off. " "Of course the fireflies in the Disneyland 'Pirates of the Caribbean' attraction do move because of the blowers they have setting on the floor. Our Firefly Magic® Lights move by Mother Nature's breezes. By extending the small Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights and wires out the end of branches, twigs, or stems just a few inches, the 'fireflies' bob and weave when the breezes blow, just like real fireflies in nature." May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there! As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words: "My treasure to he who can understand."

He is gonna help me with the lighting situation too.. in a couple months I will post some night time photos.. I plan on Building a large rectangular table supported by a couple of finished whiskey barrels. I will be needing some lighting overhead for that as well.. It's gonna look bitchin! oderlesseye Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 A new project has gotten underway here at the cove... Eye decided I wanted a new table with an image embedded onto it..I thought to Rout out for the whole frame and all but decided to keep it simple and remove the tavern image from the frame and shallac it in place along with the whole table.. The table will be supported by two barrels of which have been cut as you can see.. Still considering what kind of finish I want..the finish will need to match the barrel chairs which have been added to in number and re-uphostered from the previous Harloquin to plain black. http://www.myspace.com/oderlesseyehttp://www.facebook....esseye?ref=nameHangin at Execution dock awaits. Twisted Maggie Smythe Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 So where are ye get'n them barrels? Been look'n fer one and the only place seems to be online with the Kentucky Barrel Co.
gunner Gordon Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 wine barrels are all over the place here in california, they can only legally use a wine or whiskey barrel once for commercial purposes.Y ou might see what is nearest to you. they are infinately cheaper than new and the wine barrels are top quality in construction. the further away from Scotland ye roam, the more Scottish ye become

Well, were we port here is so far from any winery's. I think there is one, way up above Seattle, Columbia Winery, I think. But to get there would be a 6 or 7 hour drive. I may email them to see if they have them. It would have to be cheap enough to afford the drive there. Thanks fer ye reply! Points me heading in the right direction anyway! Twisted Maggie
oderlesseye Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) I worked on the project more today..Funny how when I set out to do somethings, they take on a life of there own out of nessesity of design.. This Disney image will be fiberglassed to the table ..Forget shallac! The table top is black using Milk paint ..an experiment in itself having never used the stuff before. It will make a good back drop for the picture. The edge of the frame has been routered for asthetics. All the dang holes have been predrilled and countersunk for oak buttons.. The buttons will be painted black with the outside frame a deep dark red to match the pic and kind bounce the same color off my flag nearby for contrast. oderlesseye Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) Work is progressing toward getting the Art work portion of the table started. the table top is now is all assymbled and painted.. (Some touch is still needed) I still have to experiment with resin and an image on a separate piece to make sure wot I am doing will work.. oderlesseye Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) Well because of another project requiring a large amount of table space i went on ahead and moved it all into the cove area..I have decided against using the disney image. Instead i am getting the large gold Escudos/Dablooms and will embed them every third 2x6.. Then I will glass over the whole table and call this project complete..Simplicity has me eye on this.. I already have enough symbols of Pyracy Aka Skulls and such.. Eye moved my big lamp to the center of the table... I have an Electrician hooking me up with faders for all the main night lighting.. When that is done then I will be posting a few night shots of the place..Maybe some Goslings on the table too.... ~ Eye Can't wait to share this space on Aug 22nd with other Pirates! oderlesseye Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 The fiber glass resin job dinna come out like i wanted to. Eye am in dispair but not all is lost...I will have alot of sanding in front of me to make the table presentable..I had an epic fail with a paint brush and got bristles every where.. also the resin began setting too soon while still in application which left a ruff finish in a few spots.. Dang i was nervous and regret my choice to glass it rather than just use Valspar . http://www.myspace.com/oderlesseyehttp://www.facebook....esseye?ref=nameHangin at Execution dock awaits.
