HUZZAH....A pirate's life fer me "There be the chest, inside be the gold, we took them all. Spent them and traded them. We frittered them away on drink and food and pleasurable company. The more we gave them away, the more we came to realize... the drink would not satisfy, food turned to ash in our mouths, and all the pleasurable company in the world could not slake our lust. We are cursed men....Compelled by greed we were, and now we are consumed by it."

Patrick Hand
Angels camp????? Do they know how to party there? Lets see..... Angels Camp in in Calaveras (Spanish fer Skulls) County..... in the Gold country..... Thar be at least one Pyrate in th' area that knows how to PARTY........ (I live about half an hour up the mountain from Angels Camp.....) The Calaveras Celtic Faire, isn't exactly a Renn. Faire, closer to a county fair, but with a Caltic infleunce....they do have jousting, and lots of good food and mucic, and some re enactors set-up camps..... Tales of the Seven Seas did something the same weekend last year, (OH yah... the Dubblin St. Patricks Parade.....) but I want to check into setting up a Pyrate camp there this year.... Pyrates, at a Celtic Faire ? ........ sure, (they have that stupid Roman)..... But what do you think the Celts were doing during that time period.... standing around in kilts, throwing logs and stuff.... I figure that I want to ....is make some large easy to read signs for the side of the camp showing.... 1. A map showing where and who the Celts were (I'm amazed how many people have no idea..... (see comment about the Roman)) 2. A map showing where and who the Pyrates were...... (other than the Dutch and a few renigades) it's an interesting coincedence.... isn't it..... 3. A list by nationality of where famous Pyrate were from. (that might be on the second map.....) Most of the Fairs that we do are for intertainment, this one I want to do as educational....... (it's realy the only one that I can think of where it would work........)
Barbados Sam
big bears management can pound sand! Rumba Rue
I normally wouldn't say this publicly, but DO NOT DO THE BIG BEAR FAIRE! After four years, the people running it, still don't have their act together. Instead of having their check in booth at the entrance, it was well inside the faire, so people had to be escorted there to get their things taken care of. There was no gatelist provided to the three ticket vendors, or anyone else up front, which caused insurmountable problems. When I, Boats and my friend Bob went this year, at the begging of one of the faire Board people we knew, calling for needed help, we were sorely disappointed in what we saw. It was hot, and the three of us working the front, had to tell people to throw their water bottles away before entering the faire. That caused a lot of angry people -finally the San Bernadino police informed the front gate people they couldn't do that, for fear of a lawsuit. This of course pissed off the people running the event. There are no places for people to sit and eat, ANYWHERE in the whole place except a few at a couple of stages. Plus it was horribly hot and hardly any shade to speak of. On top of that, the San Bernadino Police were harassing the vendors and even the one ale stand about many things including not having a fire extigusers in sight. The police do not want this event there and they've made it pretty clear. The people attending weren't real happy with the event either for the lack of afore mentioned seating and shade, and the price of $13.00 to get in...for what? The groups there were the only ones that seemed to be happy enough to have a place to party. This faire is totally doomed to failure because of the way it's being run. I can tell you that neither I, Boats, or Bob will never go back!
Barbados Sam
I normally wouldn't say this publicly, but DO NOT DO THE BIG BEAR FAIRE! Thanks for the head's up Rumba. I'll pass this info along to our Captain. Too bad. Such a nice place for a Faire........ "There be the chest, inside be the gold, we took them all. Spent them and traded them. We frittered them away on drink and food and pleasurable company. Rumba Rue
I'd like to add that the person on that Board who asked us to come and help is a proven liar. She has caused considerable damage to every group she is a member of. Diego can back this up.

Diego me brother, if'n ye have any inside info on BB's management problems, PM me wit' the info will ye? They invited us to participate at their faire, an' we are considerin' it.... I got nothing against the faire its location is great the time I had there was great (lonely) but great the temperature were great! the friends there met and known they are great. Just one wet dream turned nightmare human in charge and I'd rather be going to all the tall ships festivals. Which honestly Michael tell yer captain that in costume at tall ships you will have more satisfying gratification fer yer existance than any three faires with camps... Honestly i'll bet in San Pedro and Dana we were in over three hundred photographs with kids and families..... So much better and (shhhhhh!) cheap Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a knife in your back.

Rumba Rue
Since me an' Boats have connections well installed now over the years, with the head honchos of the Dana Point Tall Ships, we could certianly talk to them about having Stanglehold there, since that group is far more active than that other one there. If'n Stranglehold be interested, please do contact me or Boats and we'll see what we can do.
