AliasGraceO'Malley
I actually preferred Rob Roy to Braveheart and everybody thought I was crazy.
Rosalinda
They're both great, but with the love story in Rob Roy... it does have a slight edge over Braveheart... Got lost in the town in Scotland where William Wallace murdered the mayor who had his wife raped and killed. 30 miles south of Edinburgh. Spooky little town. TalesOfTheSevenSeas
My faves are "Gone with the Wind", "Amadeus", "Gladiator" and of course "Pirates of the Caribbean". Talk about a funny mix of history, eh? Of the old pirate flicks, my favorite is "The Seahawk" with Errol Flynn. And if you want a good one to see that just came out, don't miss "Open Range" with Kevin Costner. It's excellent!! -Claire "Poison Quill" Warren Pyrate Mum of Tales of the Seven Seas www.talesofthesevenseas.com
Daniel
I'm guessing Brad is the kid? He is the one I always forget. Actually, Horst Buchholz is the kid. My favorite pirate movies of all time are the 1950 and 1990 versions of Treasure Island. Then, oddly, comes Cutthroat Island, which most people despise, then Captain Blood and then Pirates of the Caribbean. Actually, I like The Sea Hawk better than any of these movies, but I don't really count it as a pirate movie.

Mad Kestrel
What are your fave movies? I could happily live on a deserted island with my DVD player and DVDs of: Pirates of the Caribbean Captain Blood From Hell The Matrix LOTR - all three (I'm sure I'll like Return of the King, and I don't plan on being marooned before it comes out anyway) Hamlet (the Branagh version) Last of the Mohicans (the Day-Lewis version) Dead Again all the Hornblower movies Of course, I'll be wanting an endless battery supply and a good-sized cache of rum to go along with my movies. And maybe a wicked, gold-toothed pirate to watch 'em with me... Capt Grey
Xanadu? Really? I've been spending the last 25+ years denying I ever saw that. And you mean to say there are other movies besides Star Wars?! I'm as eclectic as the rest of you: Star Wars (all) Indiana Jones (without Temple) 3 & 4 Musketeers (Richard Lester is the only one who got it right) Harry Potter (got me a look-a-like for a cabin boy!) LOTR (can't wait for December!) Star Trek movies 2-6 Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett versions by Granada Television) James Bond Spy Kids The Muppet Movie (1979) And ye can't be forgettin' that fine seaman, Captain Gregg, from the original movie "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" (Ray Harrison, Gene Tierney) Arrrr. Captain, we always knew you were a whoopsie. Rumors of my death are entirely premature.

Salty Dave Morgan
Moving magic lantern pictures hummm? Well... Casablanca... they actually wrote the final script during production. It's amazing they ended up with such a masterful film noir classic Lawrence of Arabia... Every frame is a painting... the cinematography is legendary. Gettysburg... Just simply a moving and beautiful film. Barry Lyndon... If only they had left Ryan O'Neal out of it... oh well... it's still one of Kubrick's finest. Amadeus... Beautiful music... beautiful sets... beautiful costuming... Awww hell... it's just beautiful. The Matrix... What can I say...? No one can tell you what the matrix is... you must see it for yourself. Add to this Reloaded and Revolutions. Last Temptation of Christ... a very thought provoking film. Angel Heart... Beautiful New Orleanian exteriors... voudouin... and DeNero as the quintesential Satan... Not to mention... Cutthroat Island... Just turn off the analytical side of your brain and enjoy a fun ride. The carriage chase along the dock is just too great for words... "I suddenly find myself being fired upon by a ship!..." Pirates... Anyone else remember this 1986 movie with Walter Matthau? What a hoot! There's a quick "Top Ten"...
