Bloody Charity Kidd Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 AND - I am finding more and more that some little snippet of my garb is appearing on my daytime work wear..... I can't seem to be without a little treasure of some sort.... Plunder Bunny Jackie Sparrow Bloody Charity ButterCupChuckleButt Kidd
Lady Alyx Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 I agree with you, can never have enough! One of these days will invest in a new hat. I found a great one once on one costume website and have since forgotten where that site was. I purchased a long time ago from Knotts Berry Farm a pistola (kid's pop toy...actually pops a cap if you set one in) and it looks very authentic. I have a picture of myself holding it but don't know how to post a pic inside these post boxes (if you can-brand spanking new to this site). I have several full skirts that I use one is a full circle silk one that I found at a thrift shop and those go for big bucks on the belly dance sites. Looking for a new boostier instead of white frilly shirt and waist cincher....and perhaps getting one of the belly dance fluted shirts to wear under the boostier. Here's a website that I have bookmarked for Pirate gear...http://www.talesofthesevenseas.com/Costuming.html ~~~~Sailing Westward Bound~~~~ Lady Alyx
blackjohn Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 For the re-enactors there is also the desire to "upgrade" their kit - part of that never ending process of trying to be more authentic. If that's your gig, you might want to check out my site's section on "how to dress like an authentic pyrate." OOOPS! No, never mind. I've been too busy to actually do that. Instead, I'll point you to the site of my "brother pirate," the Gentleman of Fortune's site. My Home on the Web The Pirate Brethren Gallery Dreams are the glue that holds reality together.
Bloody Charity Kidd Posted October 18, 2004 Author Posted October 18, 2004 Many thanks Black John. Plunder Bunny Jackie Sparrow Bloody Charity ButterCupChuckleButt Kidd

Reddrake Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Aye. I must say thar is never an end. I have been working on mine for ten years now. I also hit tha second had and thrift stores. I have only found a few good deals (steals) at tha antique stores. I am constantly looking for everyday things that have tha proper "look". Another source for some good ideas is No Quarter Given. I have gotten a couple good pieces from their advertisers.
