I can make a sort of spanish rice, toasted rice browned in butter with onions, garlic, tomato/mild salsa, peas, carrots, salt an pepper. It's nothing special but usually goes well with other things - adds bulk and is filling.

I'm making/bringing Sailors biscuits for the event.... does that count?.... lol!  😉

I'm thinking most of us would prefer something that is actually edible, but Ship's or Sailor's Biscuits would be perfect for living history demonstrations.

I had planned to make a batch before heading out, but if you're committing to make some - I won't bother. 😉

Only if you are cooking it in an entree! Otherwise you have a start on a demo!

Some Fort Taylor attendees might remember, the fire was so hot we couldn't get close enough to the pot to put the dumplings in. So........... we flung them in from a distance. I think it was Jessica Bagley that coined the term. Good times.
