Current Ship's Surgeon Impression, c. early 1700s

Recommended Posts

I'm currently the surgeon/one of the founders of the Charleston-based 'Crew of the Charles Revenge.' Just wanted to show off my newish/growing medical impression. Mr Mission's research has been fundamental outside of primary sources of course. I am developing a series of kit-components that broadly fits the range of 1690-1780. I do Rev War surgeon as well, so there is an abundant amount of crossover!  I have a couple of different medical chests I useimage.png.326b3682d37faa282ec24d6489550b7c.pngimage.png.397306aa3e84b52014bd46fbffe1d3ed.png

The black display board side doors of you little chest are an interesting idea. They kind of remind me of Samuel Van Hoogstraeten's series of Trompe l'Oeil Still Life paintings.

Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."

Then it would be a display board... even more like the Trompe l'Oeil Still Life paintings.

Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"

John: "I don't know."

Mycroft: "Neither do I. But initially he wanted to be a pirate."

I have actually downsized the box to a smaller version of the same!

Very nice! Do you have any plans to finish it (the outsides) with stain/linseed oil? Or are you going to let it just age with use?
