BCarp Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) Just arrived in yesterday's mail - a wee pop-gun to arm the bow of my boat (see: https://pyracy.com/index.php/topic/19378-soon-to-be-afloat/). 15" barrel, .75 caliber bore (stainless steel lined), weighs about 13 lbs. Now, I have to get the swivel yoke and tiller fabricated for it and it'll be ready to mount! Edited December 5, 2014 by BCarp Carpie "You will be a brother to pirates and corsairs...."
Coastie04 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Nice! I could use one of those on my boat, but the mrs. already complains about the maintenance and moorage costs! She was bigger and faster when under full sail With a gale on the beam and the seas o'er the rail
Jas. Hook Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 BCarp - Neat. Please post some photos when it's mounted. "Born on an island, live on an island... the sea has always been in my blood." Jas. BCarp Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 Alrighty, finally have the swivel mount completed for use on my boat! In the pics you see the mast step in the bow, the wooden stanchion I made to drop into the mast step, and finally the gun in its swivel yoke mounted on that post. To my eye the gun is riding a bit high, so I will most likely cut the stanchion down a few inches.... Carpie "You will be a brother to pirates and corsairs...."
Jas. Hook Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Damm, I hate it when the photos are blocked. "Born on an island, live on an island... the sea has always been in my blood." Jas. Cascabel Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Hmmmm..... To my eyes, the mounting looks a bit flimsy. Hope it holds up.
BCarp Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 I cut the wooden stanchion down about 6 inches, which improves the profile of the set-up markedly. The mount is actually sturdier than it looks. No problems handling blank charges so far, anyways...! Carpie "You will be a brother to pirates and corsairs...."
MaxBuchanan Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Beautiful addition to a beautiful boat to be sure.
