Hawkyns Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Recently come across some references to a Brown Bess Ship's Carbine. Standard butt, lock and furniture but only a 26 inch barrel. Supposedly these barrels came in both bright and dulled finishes. I've seen some pictures but been unable to determine if this was original, and 18th c modificaion or a modern cutdown. Anybody have any further info? Hawkyns Cannon add dignity to what otherwise would be merely an ugly brawl I do what I do for my own reasons. I do not require anyone to follow me. I do not require society's approval for my actions or beliefs. if I am to be judged, let me be judged in the pure light of history, not the harsh glare of modern trends.
Jas. Hook Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Hawkyns - Middlesex Valley has a very brief descriptions on both a ship carbine and a ranger musket they sell with two resource books quoted, Boarders Away Vol.2 and one on Revolutionary War arms. It may spin ye compass on the right course. Jas. Hook "Born on an island, live on an island... the sea has always been in my blood." Jas. Hook "You can't direct the wind . . . but . . . you can adjust the sails." "Don't eat the chickens with writing on their beaks." Governor Sawney
