Cascabel Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Here is a new knife I made as a gift to my sweetheart. It's a fantasy piece, rather than historical. The blade is made from a compressor blade from a jet engine, and has quite a bit of twist to it. The handle is made from Black Palm wood. It's a pretty big knife with, a blade length of about 9 inches. If you look at the pic showing the top view, you can see the twist. I think it looks pretty exotic !!
Capt. Bo of the WTF co. Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That'll make someone bleed badly! Nice work! Now, about the scabbard.... Bo
William Brand Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That is wicked. In the 'very cool' sense of wicked. Or cool, in the 'very wicked' sense of cool. It's interchangeable.
Cascabel Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 That'll make someone bleed badly! Nice work! Now, about the scabbard.... Bo Scabbard is already done. It has a twist formed in it to match the blade. >>>> Cascabel

hurricane Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Beautiful work sir. Never would have thought a jet fan blade could come in so handy. Do you need a list of people to try it out on? -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. I think it would only work on people with "twisted" personalities....... That describes a LOT of my friends.

captscurvy_nc Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Interested to know how you put the twist in the sheath.
Cascabel Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 Interested to know how you put the twist in the sheath. Actually quite simple. Just wet the leather, shove the knife into it, and let it dry. >>>>> Cascabel
captscurvy_nc Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Okay so you didn't use any type of core just let the leather form around the blade. What weight did you use?
Cascabel Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 Okay so you didn't use any type of core just let the leather form around the blade. What weight did you use? I dunno, just some I had on hand, about 3/16" thick. Didn't feel the need for a core. Instead of sewing it, I laced it together with brass wire to be a bit different. >>>> Cascabel
captscurvy_nc Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Would love to see a pic of the sheath. I've never thought of using wire to lace it up.
Captain Midnight Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Absolutely beautiful, Cascabel! "Now then, me bullies! Would you rather do the gallows dance, and hang in chains 'til the crows pluck your eyes from your rotten skulls? Or would you feel the roll of a stout ship beneath your feet again?" ---Captain William Kidd--- (1945)
Dread Pyrate Greyhound Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Beautiful peice! Nice work mate! Let every man Know freedom, Kings be damned, And let the Devil sort out the mess afterwards.
Privateer Armoury Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Very interesting. Has to be one of the most unique knives I've seen. Well done. They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. Ben Potter, Bladesmith Privateer Armoury Going Afloat Blog
rickdog999 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 What is the metal? Is it steel of some alloy or a different metal altogether?
Cascabel Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 What is the metal? Is it steel of some alloy or a different metal altogether? It's steel, but I'm not certain what the alloy is. Something fairly exotic I'm sure, being a jet engine compressor blade. >>>>> Cascabel
