Hester
... and contrary to expectation, it's not all soft and singer-songerwritery. It actuallly rocks hard enough to drown out the incredibly loud neighbour children. You can listen here: http://www.rhettmiller.com/

Hester
(Trust Jenny to be a 'Mats fan! Sounds like a live boot even.) Right now, I'm listening to Peter Elkas -- tonight's opening act: http://www.myspace.com/peterelkas His band, the wonderfully named Elkaholics, are pretty intrepid. Hester
Masonry saws and jackhammers ripping out the sidewalk in front of the neighbour's house. It's the City's 8 am wake-up call to me. It's so close and loud, my walls are vibrating. I hope to hell this doesn't go on all summer. It's a lovely day out there, but I can't even open the windows, between the noise and the concrete dust. To try to cover the de-construction racket, I'm playing: Dogs, Turn Against this Land ... really loud. Not what I'd normally choose for a breakfast serenade. Bugger! Hester
Thunderstorm. At least it's given the power-washers pause for thought. And musically, James Yorkston's soothing sounds: http://www.myspace.com/jamesyorkston

BriarRose Kildare
As I stand by the sink washing me dishes from last nights supper ,the window is open and in the distance from across the way I can here "Moonlight Serenade"....and it takes me back to a time and place I was before long ago beyond this present life....and memories stir like a warm summer's breeze. Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. The Dimension of Time is only a doorway to open. A Time Traveler I am and a Lover of Delights whatever they may be. There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls.
Hester
Day 4 of the contractors power-washing the neighbours' deck. (15 years worth of stain built up, and they're trying to blast down to the bare wood!) CBC radio chatter on top of the racket.
Hester
Gentle rain ... and silence from next door. (Don't know whether the rain scared off the contractors for good, or if they're just taking a lunch break.) And musically, overtop of the ambient sounds coming in through my open windows, the gorgeous folk-rock sounds of the Lilac Time's debut eponymous album.
