Carolina Jolly Roger Posted August 7, 2009 Share Posted August 7, 2009 I've read on Pat Croce's ( owner of Pirate Soul Museum ) web site, that he and the director of Gladiator were making a movie on "BlackBeard", I've surfed the web and they say there is a "BlackBeard" movie coming out next year, but nothing about the details yet. The Gothic Blacksmith Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) All I can say is that they had best not turn it into a 'historical romance' film.....Blackbeard was a brilliant, ruthless fellow who definitly knew full-well the advantages of psychological warfare, not a pretty-boy who tries to look the part of the pouty bad-boy. I will likewise throw a fit if the costume designers don't have proper clothing, i.e women running about with no caps/hats and men with no stockings/wigs (unless pirates!). No supermodel wenches, please! Give us some realistic characters with smallpox scars, bad teeth (especially the upper class due to the insane amounts of sweets they consumed!), calloused hands and dirty, work-worn clothing. It has been a few months since anyone has talked to him but it was certainly happening. I had my fingers crossed about doing a few custom swords for it. If I do get the commision I wont be able to talk about it untill they release a trailer. From what I understand, they are going all out for this and it wont be a short film. There had even been talks about making it 2 parts. When first told of this I believe the plan was to start at his death and then to have Blackbeard tell the story of his life. Somehow, I didn't post the last comment, but it says I did. Anyway, there's actually 2 Blackbeard movies. One is filming in IOWA as we speak. It's about boys conjuring up Blackbeard's ghost The Pat Croce one is supposed to be a blood & guts real piracy version.
