BlackBeard Movie, 2010 ?

Recommended Posts

I've read on Pat Croce's ( owner of Pirate Soul Museum ) web site, that he and the director of Gladiator were making a movie on "BlackBeard", I've surfed the web and they say there is a "BlackBeard" movie coming out next year, but nothing about the details yet.

Anyone know more on this movie, looking forward to it, when it comes out.

In the 1700's, about half of the Pirates were of Welsh descent.

Allegedly the screen play was written by David Franzoni.

There is also suppose to be an ALIEN prequel in the works.

Frazoni wrote the screen play for GLADIATOR BTW.

As we say in Ireland let's drink until the alcohol in our system destroys our liver and kills us.

They've had some setbacks... but I can't say weather what's coming out in 2010 is the same film...

All I can say is that they had best not turn it into a 'historical romance' film.....Blackbeard was a brilliant, ruthless fellow who definitly knew full-well the advantages of psychological warfare, not a pretty-boy who tries to look the part of the pouty bad-boy. I will likewise throw a fit if the costume designers don't have proper clothing, i.e women running about with no caps/hats and men with no stockings/wigs (unless pirates!). No supermodel wenches, please! Give us some realistic characters with smallpox scars, bad teeth (especially the upper class due to the insane amounts of sweets they consumed!), calloused hands and dirty, work-worn clothing.

The magazine had been in close contact with Pat on this movie. It has been a few months since anyone has talked to him but it was certainly happening. I had my fingers crossed about doing a few custom swords for it. If I do get the commision I wont be able to talk about it untill they release a trailer.

From what I understand, they are going all out for this and it wont be a short film. There had even been talks about making it 2 parts. When first told of this I believe the plan was to start at his death and then to have Blackbeard tell the story of his life.

We will see.

Capt. William Bones

Then he rapped on the door with a bit of stick like a handspike that he carried, and when my father appeared, called roughly for a glass of rum. This, when it was brought to him, he drank slowly, like a connoisseur, lingering on the taste, and still looking about him at the cliffs and up at our signboard.

"This is a handy cove," says he, at length; " and a pleasant sittyated grog-shop. Much company, mate?"

My father told him no, very little company, the more was the pity.

"Well, then," said he, "this is the berth for me."

Somehow, I didn't post the last comment, but it says I did. Anyway, there's actually 2 Blackbeard movies. One is filming in IOWA as we speak. It's about boys conjuring up Blackbeard's ghost

The Pat Croce one is supposed to be a blood & guts real piracy version. If anyone knows how to get ahold of Croce so that I can send him my resume, please help me out! I've sent requests to every web site he is associated with, and nothing.
