Capt. Morgan Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Was watching the Cartoon Network this morning, and the series "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century" was on... all about chasing these space pirates, with a whole lot of humorous nods to old and new pirate movies... its well worth the half hour spent watching, if you manage to catch it... Touche' Ship's Marksman & Crab Fiend Pyrates of the Coast "All the skill in the world goes out the window if an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket." "Florida points like a guiding thumb, To the southern isles of rumba and rum, To the mystery cities and haunted seas, Of the Spanish Main and the Caribbees..."
Captain Charlotte Savvy Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I'm a huge fan of animated ducks -- Darkwing and Daffy in particular -- so I watched the rather mindless but still highly amusing "Duck Dodgers" new animated series rather religiously (once I found out of its existance, mind you). The pirate episode is class, my absolute favorite of those aired so far. Yes, watch it if you can catch it! The plots are as cliched as they come, but the writers realize this and mock everything they possibly can. I love it. "Pirates ... were of that old breed of rover whose port lay always a little farther on, a little beyond the skyline ... if they lived riotously let it be urged in their favor that at least they lived." ~ John Masefield Those who live by the sword, get shot instead.
Wartooth Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 As a father of three boys, I don't have much of a choice but to watch some of those toons. When that episode came on, we all laughed and recreated scenes. It was a good one. Wartooth
Capt Grey Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Duck Dodgers is a regularly watched show in our household. The shows are very clever, much like the original cartoon it is based on (which I have on VHS). Captain, we always knew you were a whoopsie. Rumors of my death are entirely premature.
