Carolina Buccaneer Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I still think one of the best Pirate movie's made was "Treasure Island", with Charlton Heston, Christian Bale, Oliver Reed and Christopher Lee. Carolina Buccaneer Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Agreed 100%! Just wish it was on DVD! Yea, I bougth a copy on VCR tape when it first came out, I don't know why they haven't put it on dvd, it's such true to life history of the Pirates, no skeletons walking around like on POTC 1, and 2 & 3 got wrost. Kenneth Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I love the trailer....It has that 90's feel! http://www.videodetective.com/movies/TREAS...r/P00003089.htm "Without caffine, I'd have no personality at all"
Blackfoot Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I enjoyed "Blackbeard: Terror at Sea" with James Purefoy portraying Blackbeard. Great movie. I have been looking for it on DVD for quite some time. ]
Rumba Rue Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 It's hard to pick just one, but Muppet's Treasure Island is a hoot (and great songs) as is Cutthroat Island and even funnier is Yellowbeard. Yea, I like comedy.

MadL Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I like 'Return to Treasure Island' (1998) with Stig Eldred and Dean O'Groman I know the actors could have put a bit more ...uh, 'life' into it, but overall I like the location and originality of the story...a fitting way t' end ol' Long John Silver's days I think. Oh, and that is one e'llva cockatoo, with them green feathers! But I like others too like 'Swashbuckler', 'Blackbeard terror of the sea', the old 'Baccaneers' tv series, 'Yellowbeard'...oh, and 'Pirates of the Caribbean' ::Ducks Flying Rum Bottle:: HEY! WHO THREW THAT?!? ~All skill be in vain if an angel pisses down th' barrel o' yer flintlock! So keep yer cutlass sharp, 'n keep her close!

Will Fiddle Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Thanks much for the heads up on the 1990 Treasure Island. It really is one of the best pirate stories out there, and is pivotal to how we approach even historical piracy, like a trade wind on the sea's currents. Your most and obliged humble servant, William Dezoma
Poopdeck Pappy Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 My vote is Captain Blood, starring Errol Flynn, or maybe the Sea Hawk, Flynn, or Maybe even Treasure Island (1950) starring Robert Newton, the best Long John Silver ever. BATTLESAIL
