count de monet Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 after finally figuring out the pattern, we think we got the shirts right. let us know how these look this is one shirt... however the sleeves were cut to accomodate no arm gussets... here is another with the arm gussets :) gee, doesn't my windblown hair look great ?? please let us know if we are doing fine or not.... helpful hints are never tossed away
count de monet Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 here's a few more... the cuff, yeah i know... no buttons yet.... haven't decided on them yet.. maybe some rope type buttons would look good.. the collar... with the gussets in the proper place !! :) wife's chemise and skirt :)
Jack Roberts Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Nice! It looks like the first shirt is a "natural" and the second is a white one? If so I like the natural linen. (They are linen right? It looks that way) I might have to make me one of those in the near future. "Shudder" Neck gussets, I had the worst time trying to figure those out. Did you pre-wash the fabric before sewing them up? So far looking good.
Jack Roberts Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I forgot to ask, are you coming down for PiP this year?
Mary Diamond Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Nicely done! Happy to see things worked out ~ Oooh, shiny!

So far looking good. yeah, the first is "natural", but a heavier weight than the white one. all linen... prewashed it all..... boy, am i glad i wasn't the only one screwing up the neck gussets... i was trading emails with someone when they jogged a thought in my head, and i stopped my wife who was literally about to sew on the collar, and we put the gussets where they were supposed to be... seems so simple now that we figured it all out---- but, not with out help !!
count de monet Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 I forgot to ask, are you coming down for PiP this year? at the rate things are going for us, something drastic would have to happen to cancel our plans to attend...
pyrateleather Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Looking good- look forward to seeing your crew again this fall at St. Louis Pirate Fest... If you weren't already aware there is a 1 day Renaissance Festival in Jefferson City next weekend on June 21st. Not sure how far of a day trip that is for you: Jefferson City Ren Fest http://www.PyrateTradingCompany.com
Gentleman of Fortune Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Looks great! I would not worry with buttons at the cuff. An authentic closure would be to put one button hole on each side (like a dress shirt has for cuff links) and then have a linen tape go through the holes to tie close it. Same at the neck. I have seen one period "button" closure at the cuff... but it is really more like cuff links as their are holes in the cuff (like described above), closed by two diamond stud buttons (that were two separate pieces tied together.)
