I haven't watched that film in a long time. Funny thing is, I've been kind of "craving" it for some reason. Probably because I've been watching too much Spongebob, and Clancy Brown does the voice for Mr Crabs. So I can't watch Spongebob without thinking of either Buckaroo Banzai or Highlander. Most will be on TV sooner or later or just go rent them at the local video store when they come out. Classic can be: -movie that stands the test of time as "good" in its genre. -movie that is old --- "Old" is a moving target determined by many factors. Does no sound mean "classic?" Black and white/gray tones? 1950s and older? Anything before 1980? 19-anything? I'm curious about the "Dark Shadows"...anyone know who might be playing Angelique? Or if there will *be* an Angelique? (How can there *not* be? Hottest witch EVEH!) And has anyone ever noticed just what miserable weather Collinwood always had? There was *always* a thunderstorm over the house! Damn, thats sharp! I've heard a few things... one major thing that baffled us around here... was the canyon. Canyon? What bleedin' canyon? Where the hell did the canyon come from? Hell, been pondering how the hell it formed even if it was caused by another New Madrid massive earthquake. Just... baffled. But cool that they placed a massive Starship Yard around here. iPirate Posted August 7, 2009 Share Posted August 7, 2009 ok, so i'm child of the 70's and I remember fondly my first GI Joe 12" action figure. The ones will real fuzz on his head and face. in the 80's I thought the new line of Joe figures were a bit lame but I did get sucked into the cartoon, possibly out of sheer nostalgia. So... last night I saw the opening of the movie This shows a fledgling Cobra organization before it was even called Cobra and their tactics for obtaining very very horrible weapons is outright... piracy. Indeed, they do right by every mother's son what calls himself a pirate. The movie has one up on the cartoon in that Cobra is in no way buffoonish or stupid. They are smart, crafty, and full on bad-assed. I giggled with glee through the entire movie. Perhaps this topic should be in "beyond piracy" but I feel the bad guys of the movie could very easily have been flying Jolly Rogers. Child of the 80's here, I grew up watching GI Joe and (my favorite) Transformers along with Jem, He-Man and slew of others. It's rather... odd, to see a live action movie out about GI Joe now. Odd when Transformers came out on the big screen... again... not animated. Doubt I will get a chance to see it in the theater but I will definitely watch GI Joe sometime.
