TheBlackFox Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I got me what looks like a 10th generation copy of the movie which I had to txfr from Betamax to VHS onto DVD (i.e. 8,9,10 version). . . looks like crap, sounds like crap. . .and I watch it once a year at least.

Never seen an affordable one that did't say it rolls or half the sound track is missin'. Good ones seem ta go fer $150 an up. The big question is will the new one be available in standard DVD or will people have ta upgrade to a newfangled blue ray player? Bess? PIRATES! Because ye can't do epic shyte wi' normal people.
Iron Bess Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I been watchin' the Evilbay fer many years now. Never seen an affordable one that did't say it rolls or half the sound track is missin'. Good ones seem ta go fer $150 an up. The big question is will the new one be available in standard DVD or will people have ta upgrade to a newfangled blue ray player?Bess? Naw, it will be available in both formats. They know that most people do not have the Blu-ray players (yet) and they would lose money selling things in only one format. Blu-ray IS amazing though.... Well, you may not realize it but your looking at the remains of what was once a very handsome woman!

TheBlackFox Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Blue Ray won the war. That's what Sony said about Betamax in 1983

Captain Falkenberg Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I loved this one (and it's title song). Now if only they'd bother releasing it on R2 DVD (Europe). Which they won't.
BriarRose Kildare Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Amazon has it so you get notified when its available. Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow (1964) Oh, I am so excited. I loved this movie as a child and have been looking for it for a very long time. This has always been one of my favorite non-animated Disney stories. Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. The Dimension of Time is only a doorway to open. Morgan Dreadlocke Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 I knows we got a few modelers out there so here be a tidbit fer ye- Picture at Steve (CultTvMan) Iverson's modeling site It appears to be a highly bashed Polar Lights "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" kit. Bravo Lad, Bravo! PIRATES! Because ye can't do epic shyte wi' normal people.
Misson Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 How's come this got moved here? Syn was apparently a fictional pirate... But since it's in here now...I was watching some of McGoohan's The Prisoner TV shows recently...the ones I saw before I gave up on it were ok. I think he played the character oddly...with too much distance and too little emotion. A guy in his situation and his angry temper when quitting (as shown in the introductory credits) would be much less equable. For weird 60s psychological Brit drama/goofiness, I think The Avengers show was much more enjoyable (particularly the b/w Emma Peel seasons.) The Saint with Roger Moore was also quite good in this realm. BriarRose Kildare Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I am truly excited that this movie has resurfaced. This was one of my favorites as a child. I went thru the website yesterday and the wee lad was totally enthralled with it. I think I got him hooked cause now he has been goin' around singing the scarecrow song.... By the way was this ever a series in a book form or just a movie? Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. The Dimension of Time is only a doorway to open. A Time Traveler I am and a Lover of Delights whatever they may be. There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls.

BriarRose Kildare Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Since I showed me wee lad the site...he constantly sings and begs to see the scarecrow over and over again.

Ransom Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 This is great news!! I see an early Christmas present in my future! LOL ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you.
