Mary Diamond Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Gritty, gravelly Sparrow-voice ~ I look forward to seeing this film, but need to get past the voice. Oooh, shiny!
Ransom Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Looks like it has the same dark settings as Sleepy Hollow. Yeah, I'll go see it, because I like JD and Tim Burton. Hearing JD sing should be interesting. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. But if you're a good navigator, a least you'll know where you were when you died.......From The Ship Killer by Justin Scott. hurricane Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Sparrow's voice? Is this the only Depp movie you've ever seen? That's Johnny's voice and he's used it in film long before PotC! -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. Mary Diamond Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 No, not the only Depp movie I have seen, just the most recent ~ and I guess I really meant the inflection. Did I mention my long term memory is shot? Oooh, shiny!
'Bastian Devareaux Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Most intriguing... I shall be most curious to see Burton's twist of this tale. ( One, I dare say, I have always relished. ) The cinematography is pure Burton and he does well with things of darker natures. The casting looks quite well chosen; though I raise a brow, ever so slightly, to his choice in a Musical rendering. ( Mind you, I have no issues with such. But, do wonder how well it will be accepted by the masses. ) It is time to pause, even so early, for this account is not intended to be about my life...but is, as I have said, about my life's secrets. Secrecy is intrinsic to my work. ~ Christopher Priest “Five and Twenty Ponies, Trotting thru’ the Dark. Brandy for the Parson, 'Baccy for the Clerk. Capt. Sterling Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 This one is now on the "to see" list... "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
Dusi Sparrow Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I'll see it anyway. My JDOCD will never be cured. Besides it's not only Sparrows voice. There's also this scene in Finding Neverland where they pretend to be pirates and he asks: "You're giggling? Giggling on my ship?"
