Capt. Sterling
Cheeky, what are you ... um... holding in this picture? "I being shot through the left cheek, the bullet striking away great part of my upper jaw, and several teeth which dropt down the deck where I fell... I was forced to write what I would say to prevent the loss of blood, and because of the pain I suffered by speaking."~ Woodes Rogers Crewe of the Archangel http://jcsterlingcptarchang.wix.com/creweofthearchangel# http://creweofthearchangel.wordpress.com/
Rats
I wasn't going to touch that!!! I mean bring that up... I mean not "it up" I mean "that thing " she's holding... Not that it's a "thing".... what I mean is.... Oh never mind!!! Yes! I think MD would make a great Black Beard. Especially after buying the miniseries (Now on sale at Walmart) he has the Scottish accent down... Plus we could get Charlton or Sam playing Maynard for the David and Goliath angle. Think MD would dye his beard black?? Otherwise I think we should just write our own storyline, so we don't have to worry about specifics. We already have a very good start!! JMHO No rest for the wicked! Wait a minute... that's me?!
Cheeky Actress
Cheeky, what are you ... um... holding in this picture? Hmmm...that?! Well, I picked that up on our many travels, Captain. Do you not remember our trip to Asia? Oh, very well...it's a vintage potato masher Jamie brought with her. Came in handy as a 'thumping' device during the raid. Cheeky Actress
Just been looking at the video we took of the event - So cool! I wish I had a better system of 'transfering' from 8mm to DVD. In college we had the best editing equipment to take out stuff and do voice/music overs....Just think - I could be doing YouTube! Gosh, now who do we know that has THAT ability?! (whistling as I look at the rat in the corner). Cheeky Member of "The Forsaken"
Cheeky Actress
I have to say that this group was most kind! The gent with the red mutton chops had an extraordinary singing voice and the woman with the spool in hand was very sweet. They were so much fun during the hanging too! Gentleman of Fortune
Wow. Its pretty cool to see the number of "authentic" pirate events mushrooming.... (hats off Nate). And to see the general authenticity getting better and better with each turnout!. GoF Come aboard my pirate re-enacting site http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/ Where you will find lots of information on building your authentic Pirate Impression! historyfanatic
Thanks! We're going for the authentic look. What's really amusing is that in my 1812 and Rev War impressions I go to some heavily juried, very strict events where you have to send pictures and documentation to get "juried" for admittance. When Pirates of Paynetown was born, we decided that it should be fun and relaxing, so unlike other events that I run, the jury process was dropped and the idea was just to have fun with an emphasis on history. Over the course of the weekend I heard several people mention that Paynetown was a strict stitch-counter event. I had to laugh! We prefer and admire historical authenticity at Paynetown, but we ARE trying to be pirates on a 40-year-old lake... So... There's only so much we can do. I'd like to see everyone have fun and hopefully the farbs will see how much fun we're having and they'll get their gear right becasue they want to, not because someone is telling them they have to. That's my goal! Thank-you all for coming and hopefully we'll see you next year! LadyBarbossa
::Whimpers::: I'm beginning to feel rather isolated in the Land between Two Rivers (Iowa). Nothin' fun like this happens 'round here. Bloody sticks-in-th'-mud Iowans! Alas, tis a long drive for me that direction, mates. Perhaps next year I'll be able to make more events. :::knocks on the wood of the Black Pearl::: Oh, and define "polyester Pirate"? ~Lady B Tempt Fate! an' toss 't all t' Hell!"
