Hester
Has anyone seen this? I bought the DVD via Amazon, and sat down to watch it with a rum cocktail. I only got through the first few scenes and then needed lots more rum to wash it down ... so then I got drunk, lost the plot, and just switched it off. The acting was so bad, I thought it must be a porn movie ... but I never did see any sex. Anyhow, now that I'm forewarned, I guess I should try again to get through this thing. I'll have to pace my rum intake this time, though. And maybe popcorn will help. Cheers, Hester
pyrateleather
Apparently it skipped theatres and went straight to DVD... I was going to watch it on Pay Per View On Demand but I saw the preview and decided I'd wait until I had a chance to look into it. It looks extra cheesy!!! http://www.PyrateTradingCompany.com

Christine
I saw this at Blockbuster the other day....sitting right next to that porn one. I know you all have heard of that one, all buxom fake chested porn stars on the front cover, lined up like Curse of the Black pearl. Well, anyway, I thought about getting the Pirates of Treasure Island, but then decided against it. Sounds like I'm glad I did, lol! Anyway, speaking of these pirate movies, there's this other one I've been curious about, but it's always checked out. I saw it at Hollywood Video, not too sure of the title off hand. Something about Curse of Pirate Island.....something like that. Anyway, every flippin' time I'm in there they only have the display box! I dunno, with my luck it'll suck royally, perhaps it's best it's always checked out when I come in, lol!

Tall Paul
Isn't this the one where Long John Silver gets his leg bitten off by a Giant beetle ? Cpt "Tall Paul" Adams Colchester Historical Enactment Society (C.H.E.S.)
Hester
Isn't this the one where Long John Silver gets his leg bitten off by a Giant beetle ? Hi, Paul: My memory's pretty hazy (bloody rum!) ... but I do vaguely recall a giant insect (or am I confusing this film with the rather good Mysterious Island starring Kyle MacLaughlin?) Tall Paul
Hi, Paul:My memory's pretty hazy (bloody rum!) ... but I do vaguely recall a giant insect (or am I confusing this film with the rather good Mysterious Island starring Kyle MacLaughlin?) Cheers, Hester I Don't want to appear rude, But please dont get me started on The Mysterious Island Mini series, A pale imitation of the 1961 Ray Harryhausen classic. It is the curse of CGI that special effects can now be used to shore up a flagging story, Whan Harryhausen introduced a monster, it usually served to move on the plot in some way, as well as provide some of the classic action set pieces of the films of my youth. The giant beetle in pirates ofe treasure island is a case in point, it ws only there because they could do it, the film would be no worse if the scene were removed. As I remember it, the Kyle MacLauglin Mysterious Island had A Giant Praying mantis, a rampage of Giant Spiders and Vinnie Jones as a Pirate (Still wearing the obligetory tricorn hat during the era of the American Civil War!) I'm Sorry, Rant over. Cpt "Tall Paul" Adams Colchester Historical Enactment Society (C.H.E.S.)
Hester
Yeah, but the young pirate hero was quite cute: ... so I was willing to forgive a lot with that movie. Although Jason Durr's atrocious American accent and fake beard were a bit hard to take! [... especially as I'm a devoted Heartbeat fan.] SPOILER ALERT V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V V And they killed off that cute young pirate in the end ... which was really unforgiveable!
